My review on the Zaino line

I use my Z8 once a month and that bottle is 75% full, after about 6 months.

All of the Zaino products go a long long long way.

I can get 3 coats on my f-150 using an ounce or so.

Yes, all Zaino products should be used sparingly.

Sal use to tell me that when I used Z-6, pretend that a bottle cost $100, since this would put you in the right frame of mind wrt how much to use. He was right!

aaron,

I've had no problems with Z5 bonding to AIO. After I apply AIO, I wait 12-24 hours ( 24 hours most of the time ) before I wash with Z7 then use either Z6 or Z8 before applying layers of Z5/Z2 Pro. As Rob says in the post above mine, use Z products sparingly. You'll have a much better Zaino experience & get better results applying the Zaino lineup micro thin.

How do you guys get such thin coats? Do you use water or Z6 to help spread the product?

I use those German (red/white) applicators that Ranney sells. They're sized perfect and don't soak up much product.

I found this site and it claims to have zaino approved DF ALPINE fiber towels. Has anyone heard of them or used them. I just ordered the zaino kit and Im looking for some good towels. The zaino site says used 100% made in the USA cotton towels. What do you guys use. Any suggestions on wash mitts, drying towels, buffing/ QD towels would be really appreciated.

I, too, dampen the applicator with Z6. Z5 spreads thinly with ease. Z2 Pro is thicker ( kinda like pudding! ) & is a bit more difficult to apply than Z5 so I tend to use a bit more Z6 on my applicator pad. While applying sealants/waxes/glazes, I find it best to work the product into the paint until there's very little product left to buff off. After about 20-30 minutes, Zaino removes with such ease it's almost laughable! I've had great luck removing sealants, waxes, glazes using my trusty Concours Buffing Towel or my Sonus Der Wonder Buffing Towel. (PakShak MF"s as well!)

I'm now on day 2 of my Zaino winterizing detail. I Z7'd, clay'd, Z7'd & AIO'd the "BlkTac" yesterday. After I finish my coffee I'll be applying 3 layers of Z5 this morning.

I use microfiber towels bought at my local auto shop with the Z8... tends to wipe off better then using terry cloth.

Anyways, I guess next time I'm gonna have use the Zaino really really sparingly, since I used way too much last time. Gonna have to pick up a blue glaze pad and try that :dance. Even though Sal reccomends applying Zaino by hand, I just couldn't do it knowing I have a PC :grinno:

Finished applying 3 coats of Z5/ w ZFX earlier today. Out of 1 ounce of Z5 I was able to get 3 coats on my entire truck, windows, windshield, rear bumper & mirrors. While waiting for each layer to dry, I cleaned the interior. ( vac, Cockpit Premium,V.R.T., Bon Ami glass cleaner on the interior windows & a few squirts of CG Leather scent under the seats. ) I finished up with Z8 for the final buff & some Z16 on the tires. Being on vacation allowed me to take my time & enjoy the Zaino experience. ( and some smirnoff ) 3 layers of Z2 Pro early tomorrow morning then 3 more layers of Z2 Pro towards the end of my vacation ( next weekend ) & I'm good to go for the winter. It's been about 6-7 months since I used Zaino on my truck. ( carnauba all summer ) I'd forgotten just how teriffic the stuff is. My only complaint is that I wish the Z2 Pro was as easy to work with by hand as the Z5. My truck looks simply stunning right now, with the AIO/3 layers of Z5/Z6/Z8 combo. I can't wait to kick it up another notch with Z2 Pro in the morning!!!!

I thought you did not have to wait in between layers when you used it with zfx z6 in between. BlkTac how often dou wait in between layers? Will also be using Z2 tommorrow if does not rain.

I agree. The Z5 has some filling ability. I had some self induced, hand washing micromarring on my black paint & the Z5 did a nice job of "hiding" about 70% of it.

The ZFX is a "flash cure" additive that allows you to layer up to 3 coats within a 24 hour period. I apply it......let it dry for about 20-30 minutes.......remove it ( the stuff removes with a feather lite touch ) & then re apply & repeat the process. No need to wait when applying up to 3 layers. you do have to wait atleast 24 hours after applying all 3 coats before you can proceed with Z2 Pro or more Z5.

Damn I forgot to wait 20 minutes in between each layer. I just used z6 in between each layer and removed. Topped with Z8 and it loolked awesome do you think I should reapply Z5?

I think I've confused ya,CLEANER! (sorry if I did) What I was trying to say is that you apply either Z5/ZFX or Z2 Pro/ZFX then let it dry for 20-30 minutes, then remove. You don't need to wait 20+ minutes after you've removed the Z before applying next layer. You can apply as soon as you've removed the previous layer.
