My review on the Zaino line

1 ounce did 3 coats on a crew cab F150 for me and there was still a little left over. That included all glass, chrome and wheels.

Here are the pictures. This is about a week after I did the Zaino job... the car has been sitting in the garage untouched by the weather :spot If you forgot, I did the following: Dawn wash, Z-PC with orange pad to hood and trunk, Z5, Z6, two coats of Z2 (with Z6 in between) and 2 coats of Z8-

Two cars, eight driven wheels. :up :up :up

I really like the black/midnight blue on the '02/'03 Subies so much more than the new "Java" black . . . lookin' good!

Ryan,

No, sorry for the confusion. That's a picture of an '05 I detailed for one of the guys in the local Subaru club. My WRX is an '02 silver metallic.

Nice review!

I just wanted to add that I finally used Z2 Pro for the first time today and love it! It was every bit as easy to apply and remove as Z2 but I detected a wetter, glossier look with the Pro.

Z8 is also a favorite of mine. As long as I can keep from drinking it, I find it very easy to apply and wipe off. I have had no streaking problems with it at all and it leaves a very slick finish.

My vacation has started today. Time to "winterize" my black tacoma. I'll be switching back to Zaino for the next few months. I'm toiling with using my old stand by AIO as a cleaner/base or trying my unused bottle of Z-PC by hand. (after claying, ofcourse) I'm concerned that the Z-PC won't break down enough when used by hand. Anyhow, 3 layers of Z5 followed by 5-6 layers of Z2 Pro topped with Z8 looks tremendous on my truck. Only problem is I'm a carnauba junkie!! I love the looks of Souveran & Natty's Blue on the "BlkTac". I'm feeling "carnauba withdrawl" coming on!! Bring on the winter!!!

I wouldn't reccomend using Z-PC by hand. I tried it at first and not only did it not work, it's a waste of time and you take a risk of hazing. Just use a PC with either a polishing pad or orange pad and you'll get way better results.

5-6 layers of Z2?! :shocked holy moly... how long did that take you?

Ryan......I'm one of those "old school" guys who has yet to buy a PC. The good news is I'm positive that Santa (me) will be bringing me one for xmas!! Over the next 3 days I'll be doing the big Zaino winterizing detail. It takes me about an hour per layer of Z5 or Z2 Pro. 10 minutes to apply......wait 30 minutes.........15 minutes to remove........a quick Z6'ing......then start the process over again.

Saturday morning I'll start my 3 day process. Z7 wash.......clay......Z7 wash.....Klasse All In One. Sunday morning I'll start with Z6........then 3 layers of Z5 ( with Z6 in between layers ) ending with Z8. Monday morning I'll start with a quick Z6 then 3 layers of Z2 Pro using Z6 between the first 2 layers & then Z8 between the 2nd & 3rd, then topping with Z8. I'll then wait 2 days before applying my final 2 or 3 layers of Z2 Pro using the same Z6/Z8 process in between. Wella!!!! My 2005 Black Tacoma is now winterized!! Weekly washes with Z7 followed by Z6 or Z8 keeps my truck protected & looking teriffic all through the short West Texas winters down here. Once the weather warms up (early Feb. ) I then switch back to my Chemical Guy's lineup topped with my favorite carnaubas!

If i applied Z2pro when my paint needed it instead of when i wanted to tinker, a bottle would last 3 years easy.

Got a quick question. Does Z5 bond to Klasse AIO well?

As everyone will tell ya...........A little goes a long way. Always apply as thin as possible. In fact, the thin layer method is one I use with all the products in my arsenal. I get about 3 layers from 1 ounce of Z5 on my 2005 Tacoma. Z2 Pro is much thicker, so I tend to use a tad bit more of it for 3 layers. As for how long bottles of Z5/Z2 pro will last.......To me it depends on how frequently you use it. I use Zaino to get me through the winters here in West Texas. ( Nov-Jan) Once the weather warms up, I switch back to AIO/CG Top Coat Sealant topped with my favorite glazes/carnaubas. Then in mid May I go back to Zaino for May-July. Then it's back to glazes/carnaubas every 2 weeks till Nov.

As for Zaino & what it bonds to.........Zaino bonds best to clean paint. However, many of use have had no problems when using AIO as a base for Zaino. Just let the AIO cure for 12-24 hours prior to a Zaino application. Once AIO has cured, I hit it with a quick Z6, then it's "Zaino time" !!

Just to add..........Zaino is kinda fussy, though. It will not bond properly to glazes or carnaubas. Zaino doesn't bond to anything oily.
