My QuickWash Technique

Warning: This washing technique is NOT ideal, but works when you are short for time. I use it for my daily driver, which unfortunately, sits outside 24/7.

Time is a very precious commodity for me. I've got 2 kids, 3 cars, and like to keep them looking decent. My daily driver sits outside every day, and subsequently, gets pretty dirty. I need to wash it fairly regularly, but just don't have that much time to do it. I refuse to take it through a gas-station washer. Using this technique, I have more time to spend on my other car, or my family, etc.

What I use:

Optimum no-rinse wash (ONRW)

Foam gun (I happen to use a cheap one from home depot- the idea here is to mix ONRW with water).

Several microfibers for the wash.

Wheel brush for wheels.

Large microfiber to dry (I use the big blue one from Wallmart).

I fill the foam gun with the optimum no-rinse, and give the car a good rinsing. Then, take a microfiber, folded twice, and start washing at the top of the car. Switch to a clean side of the microfiber for each panel.

Wash entire car. Wash wheels with brush. I try to work fast, so that the water doesn't dry on the car. Luckily, I do have a shady spot to wash the car. Dry car with large microfiber.

This technique works. It is not ideal, but when you need a quick wash it seems to do OK. My foam gun has fairly high pressure, so when combined with the ONRW, it seems to do a good job getting the dirt, bird poop, etc. off the car, and even the wheels.

I did the entire car last night in less than 15 minutes.

Not exactly the autopian ideal, but I am sure that I'm not the only one here with more than 1 car, and limited time.

Hope this helps someone.

Do you have some way of setting the mixture to the "recommended" dilution of ONRW or is it more of a "ball park estimate?"

(Sounds interesting, though!)

i like it, sounds like a good idea in a small time slot. i used to get a sheepskin mitt and pour what ever car wash soap i decided on the mitt itself. after that i would rinse the car, pour some water on the mitt and begin washing from top to bottom. after every panel i would rinse the panel off and rinse the mitt a little but not so much to take off all the soap. this is only when i was in a hurry, i wouldnt even use a bucket and the soap would last me till the car was done.
