My Product Collection and Budget Garage Cabinets

I found a great set of shelves at Ikea which I assembled over lunch today. They are called Magiker shelves and are meant to be indoor but they have several nice features for a garage...they are raised on adjustable feet, available in cherry finish, are 15.75" deep, and are quite durable and sturdy. Each of the 3 units costs just $60 plus another $30 for each pair of doors. In total I got a lot of quality space for under $200 and I think it looks good also. I decided against white/birch since I think darker colors will hides spills & stains better. For another $100 you can add 6 drawers into the cabinets which I may do later for detailing tools and brushes...

I wanted to do three sets of doors but Ikea had only one set in stock.



A bit of work but I am pleased how it all turned out. :)
 
Those are really nice! I would see if ikea could get you two sets of doors. That would make those cabinets look really classy. Nice collection too!
 
That's some awfully fancy-shmancy garage furniture. Nice product collection too a lot of variety which I something like to see. I also noticed you have Zymol NSX wax. Do you currently or did you previously own an NSX?

But, I have to make a suggestion. I too have wooden shelves. Over the many months, drips and little spills, etc... have occured. Bottoms of bottles are a bit wet or damp and go back on the shelves, etc... As a result, I have bunches of rings, stains and discoloration from various APC's dripping from the spout, etc..



You may want to line the shelves and top with something to prevent this. There are many drawer liner products out there that are inexpensive. Maybe something that won't soak up the drips, etc... but rather keeps it from soaking through.



As much as you may try, over time it's going to happen. It would be ashame to see those nice cabinets get nicked up.



Just a thought. Again, it looks really awesome. Enjoy it!

Great idea. I was thinking of this also. I probably will keep a towel just for wiping off bottles handy as well.

I'm saving up. Hennessy has them in stock. :) Bret and I sat one last a couple of weeks ago. Killer interior...have to test drive one soon. :D
 
By the way, the workbench has some new products from Eimann Fabrik in for experimenting...new Auto Spa soap, Black Opal tire spray, and Vision glass cleaner. They arrived today...I will post a review as early as this weekend. :)
 
that looks very nice and organized. I envy you :)



I would like to find out how the furniture holds up to the humidity. My garage is not climate controlled (would be nice) so humidity down here in New Orleans might be a problem for something like that.



Although now that I think about it I have a desk in the garage that is made from similiar material that was here from the previous owner and it looks fine. So it will probably be ok in that aspect.

I think this might do okay in humidity since the basic material is compressed fiberboard with simulated wood veneer. It might support very heavy tools but for detailing supplies it may be okay. I will be able to tell you more once it hits June around here and our humidity increases.
