My newest JDM parts install on my MR2

Went down to my buddy's place today to work on my MR2 while he worked on his MR2's.

Installed the following OEM JDM pieces that us USDM folks don't get:

Solid side marker eliminators, painted to match.

Speed flaps- the front end of the MR2's tend to be "floaty" at high speed, this was the JDM fix in 96 IIRC, which wasn't an option for us. I've had both these pieces for quite some time, I've just been lazy to install them.

Let me just say that is that plastic piece and the screws inside the fender holding the OEM side markers are rusted or stripped, the only way to get them off is to break the old side markers off. Kind of a painful thing to do to the duece.

Pics of today's fiasco:

Thanks for looking!!!

I like that clean JDM look from removing the sides. Those flaps are functional for keep tire slings off. Especially on road courses.

Thanks! Those flaps are in front of the front wheels, so it won't help with any sling actually.

Nice upgrades, but how about some love for the wheel wells :D

Car is at his shop for winter storage, so clean wheel wells are not a high priority right now. LOL

At high speed, the front end feels like it's "floating" a bit on the MKII MR2. The MKII continued in Japan until 1999, and in 1996 it was an OEM fix to this "floating" feeling. Something to the effect of it disrupts the airflow around the front tire, letting it grip better. Think of it as a Gurney spoiler for the front tire.

 :goodjob

you got me vote....hands down beatiful...i need to go change my pants:grinno: since drool over those rims.... by the way should you ever get lazy and need your car washed and wax let me know lol..jp "Ferris Buller Day Off"

im so glad your didnt slap on any body kit, im so sick of the ricer look and to think when i was in high school i would but what prevented me from doing so is $$...

i know someone who had an MR2 but it was supercharged/turbocharged from the factory awesome ride but he did upgrade the supercharger/turbocharged....

Love those wheels!Waaaay out of my league though since it costs too much for me.I got a set of Watanabe RS-8's that i have yet to put some rubber on and mount them on my S13.

Any plans to do a low rise headlight conversion?
