My new toy!

BlackSunshine,

You are also correct in saying that the busa is amazing on the highway. I'm still in the break in stage, so I haven't pulled it all the way to redline yet, but have gotten her up to about 175 so far, which didn't take long at all to get to. It's unreal how stable the bike becomes after about 120. When you're going that fast, you try not to look down at the gauges, but the tach needle certainly moves fast!

;)

I hope that 175 was at a track :nervous2:

Maybe I am just an old fart but, motorcyclists have enough of an image problem without people riding bikes on the highways at triple digit speeds.

Sweet lookin bikes, GSXRs have some nice lookin lines...........if I was only 10 years younger :bawling:

Geez man, I am more than 10 years older than you :o I just take some Advil after a long ride and I am good as new :D

My only beef with the new Gixxers and the new R6 are the wacky muffler. Just give me something I can easily take off and replace with a Devil or Jardine RT-One Race Baffle high mount and be done with it. Geez, they're making it tough on those of us who want to change that out.

Regarding the comment about how other people (i.e. cagers) have a negative attitude towards motorcyclists and how we have a bad image in general... well, that's their problem. 95% of those people have never even ridden a motorcycle. I could care less what the rest of the people on the road think about me or the 15 other people in my "bike gang" as long as they know I'm there beside them and they don't try to ram me off the road while talking on their cell phone or drinking their Starbucks

So you think 175 mph is fine on public highways???? If so, you are part of the problem :nono

As much as we complain about careless cagers, fact is the majority of motorcyclists are seriously injured or die in single vehicle accidents. Generally a result of "trying" to ride beyond their abilities or from doing something just plain stupid.

Maybe I am reading something into your statement that isn't there?? To me it sounds like you are saying you advocate triple digit speeds and you don't care what cagers think about it. I have to wonder how that makes your behavior any better than theirs??

When did I say anything about advocating 175 on a public highway? How many times have you got "the look" or been scoffed at or judged merely because you are a "biker." I agree that the tards who fly by at 150 and stand on their gas tank are the problem.

It's just that I don't care what the cagers think, period. In my experience, you don't have to be going 175 to be prejudiced. You don't have to do anything but show up on two wheels. That, I believe, is the problem. Let the stupid ones learn their lessons the hard way. Leave the rest of us alone.

Note: BlackSunshine is tired of the EPA and sh!tty drivers.

By the way, I ride a Harley... :p

As I said, I thought maybe I was reading more into your post than was there. I got confused as you used my post in your reply.

Believe me, I have gotten the look. Don't always assume it is plain lack of attention when a cager tries to run you over, I know of several instances where it was intentional :angry There have been incidents on some of my favorite roads like the GAP for instance where locals have actually put sand or oil on the road in order to cause an accident. My only point is that more often than not, we are our own worst enemy. We should all be concerned with how we as motorcyclists are perceived by the general public as it is human nature to generalize and we all pay for those few that act irresponsibly.

Just to set the record straight, driving anything faster than the posted speed limit on any public road/highway is highly illegal, and we at Autopia frown upon such acts of carelessness.

I mentioned driving my bike at a high rate of speed, but that was on a closed course at my local racetrack. I apologize for not mentioning that sooner.

JDookie,

Just curious... how many years of riding experience do you have?

Awesome bike btw!
10 years on street bikes, and for as long as I can remember on dirt.

I fully agree, but at the same time I think the new style exhaust (which was adopted from the Ducati's I believe) looks downright awesome. My gripe isn't so much the pain to change it or the looks, but how it heats up the seat! After riding my brother's R1 for about 200 miles, but butt felt like it was on FIRE!!

nice one - nice house too

Thanks! The credit for the house goes to my parents. My house was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina and is being rebuilt. :angry

This is probably a weight savings measure. How much more can they shave off the bikes before they have to get into more expensive exotic metals???

Two Brothers has come out with a replacement. I don't like it though. I think it will be a while before we see decent replacements.

Wait, I thought the exhaust style you guys were referring to was the "under the tail" type. I don't think I've ever seen the type that's in the pic above. Now I see what you mean, I don't think I care for it too much either. The stock piece def. looks better than the Two Brothers pipe, IMO.

Not anytime soon, but *eventually*, I plan on building a 1480cc big bore to kick some turbo butts with! This is one of those "may never happen" kind of mods though. ;)

Rumors have it that Suzuki is gonna bump the 'Busa up to 1400 for 2007. :getdown

Yeah, I heard that plus I heard that there is a possibility that it will be a six cylinder too. It's hard to decifer rumor from fact these days. Either way, I had to decide if I wanted to wait for the 07' to come out or just go ahead and get an 06', and I obviously decided on the 06' because I loved the color, and the engine is this one has been perfected beyond recognition, plus the availability of aftermarket parts is just endless. I've fallen victim of first year production disasters more than I would have ever liked to, so if the rumor is true that the engine is getting bigger, I'll wait a few years and let everyone else work the bugs out for me!

Yep, sure did. I joined Hayabusa.org, and my handle is the same as on here. I actually posted a link to a particular thread on that board in my post on page 3. It's a link to one of my all time favorite bikes, and it just keeps getting better!

Nice 01', by the way. And I see you got the fastest color too! :xyxthumbs
