My new Makita 9227 rotary

Hey, would using an infared thermometer, like from Radio Shack, be a safe way to monitor paint temps before it gets too hot from the rotary and burns away? If a few bucks in painters tape and $40-50 for the thermometer can give me added security about this, then it's well worth it

A paint thickness meter would probably do some good also. I think its more of personal experience that will help you since you can tell when the paint is too hot or dangerous spots.

Thanks Woob

I'm having some trouble finding one online, can you recommend some websites for purchasing a paint thickness meter? Thanks!

hey ranney
sorry, i havent had the time lately to look at the forums very much. ive been really busy with american idol, and of course, the unimportant finals. ahhh, but anyways, nice purchase. my dad was telling me that he saw you the other day. im really suprised you remembered my dad, but i guess its because he always brings me. any plans for the PC? :). nah, i got my own, and its not good to be greedy.

anyways, any plans to get some "after market pads"?

Ranney - Way to go on your new purchase. I just received my new Makita 9227 on Friday (3 days ago), but haven't had the opportunity to use it yet. I ordered my from My Tool Store out of Las Vegas for $169.95 with shipping the final cost was $183.22. In anticipation of receiving it I picked up a bunch of Meguier's product and pads from a local distributor - that was another $170.00 +. With the rotary and my Cyclo Polisher, I should be set for awhile. Now I've got to get myself a digital camera so I can share some photos of some of my work - I only have a 35mm camera.

Just have your pictures put onto a CD where the film is developed.
