My new Hitachi

Well I promised a bunch of you guys I would do a review on the Hitachi, so here it is.

While having used many rotories iver the past 15 years, I have seen some that were great and not so great. My B&D tank just crapped out and I just purchased a new Hitachi. I was stuck in between the Makita and the Hitachi. I chose the Hitachi cause it was different, 11 amps, 0-600 - 600-3400 rpm trigger, plus the 5 year warranty. I have had a couple of Makitas in the past, but I wanted something different. The Metabo looked nice, but it only went to 2200rpm, and to me it was more of a finnesse rotory, but I have not tried that one yet, but I will get it in the summer. I needed a power house to begin with, so it was a Makita or a Hitachi. Both are so equal in design so it was hard. I asked all my friends that are in construction what they thought of each and thay all said the same. Both are great and very durable, but Hitachi tools are a tad stronger and will not bind up and they have a better warranty, but either one is a winner and a worker. So I then bought the Hitachi.

Here are my Pro's and con's

Pro's

Heavy duty built construction

Powerfull

11 Amp

5 Year warranty

easy to move dial with your thumb while in action

cool color and cool looking

just the right size and weight

perfectly balanced with the edge pads

3400 rpm for grinding or winning on a pain in the *** hard gelcoat:laugh:

0-600 speed for precise swirl remover on the softest black

very smooth running and does not get hot like others (serious fans inside)

can put a regular handle on it if someone likes that sorta thing

professional plug and cord

Cons

Hard time finding one in stock, but found it for $174 (stores locally wanted $300)

The handle I thought was cool looking but does take a while to get use to (same as makita)

11 amp motor shuts my circuit off and dims my light ( has a lotta nuts) need to change my circuit from 15 to 30 amp

That's it..I really love it and I can't wait to break her in. Either the Makita or the Hitachi are winners in my book. My next one will be a Fein or a metabo just to have another one.

I am a tool junkie and I love new tools.

For the price I payed for ($174) I thought was an absolute great tool for the price and to me I think it is way under priced. When the cheaper stores get them back in stock make sure to grab one fast. You won't regret it. If your a pro detailer and do not have a rotory, this is a must have tool and is my main detail tool. I only use a pc for ZAIO.

Good luck to all!

Thanks

Ryan

rydawg, nice post, that dam 5 year gurantee, is so hard to forget, especially when no one seems to have a problem with this machine. As I told you before, I was waiting for your review , I feel you have pretty well put the Makita in a fairly distant place from the Hitachi .

Tomorrow, next week, whatever, all this will change again and we will discusss the attributes of whatever. But, for now, things are running smooth!
