My Meguiars Ultimate Wax Review (and side by side NXT Longevity Comparison)

I've used this product on lots of cars over the course of this year (the paste version) and have never had a problem with trim staining. Many times in direct sunlight and 90+ temps also.

I've gotten the paste on trim too without any ill effects. But I've wiped it off pretty quickly.

However, Megs says to keep the paste off trim, even the can warns against it. Maybe it depends on how porous the trim is.

..What would you suggest I would use to protect them? Should I get a specific one for trims or the liquid wax (only after I use up my paste though) would be enough?

TIA.

While I've had great results with "trim-specific sealants" (e.g., the Sonus trim stuff...forget the proper name), I've also had trim hold up fine for years (that "decades" is in the case of my Jag, but it'sa garage-queen) with just regular liquid waxes. If you redo it before it obviously needs it, and clean it all down to "bare plastic" now and then with something like KAIO, I bet you can do fine without using anything special.

For that matter, I'm awfully impressed with how a mere post-wash wiping with AutoInt/ValuGard's Fast Finish works. For something that's just a leaves-stuff-behind QD, it *REALLY* wows me on the exterior black bits, and if its used over top of some LSP-type protection that oughta be even better.

No, I'm not gonna give up on my Sonus stuff, but I'm only using that on a few things, mostly the Crown Vics which I'm trying to maintain with minimal fuss (in-between infrequent, maybe annual, big cleanups).

So I guess it's relatively safe then. I'll have no worries then. Thanks.

Maybe you're right, it will depend on the material being used. Probably Meguiar's were just playing safe and placed the warning there. Thanks.

So I guess I'll just temporarily use it on trims for protection until I get a trim specific stuff next time. Thanks.

You might find it works so well for you that you never bother with the trim-specific stuff.

That AutoInt/ValuGard Fast Finish is working so well on the Tahoe's beltline molding that I'm not bothering with anything else (for that specific application); my temporary "just for the time being" approach has ended up being my ongoing routine.

Maybe you're right. We'll see how it will work out. Thanks.
