My lil' Mirage

Hallo all,

First time I've posted pics up here.. please be gentle :-p

This is my first car, a 2003 Mitsu Mirage. I went a bit crazy on it about 2 months back, claying, paint cleaner, multiple sealant passes, multiple waxes). So this time I kept it simple, and tried out Meg's #7 for the first time. I then applied one coat of Mother's liquid wax, and that's all.

The #7 blew me away. Damn, it really gives off a lovely, deep finish :-)

Anyway, comments / suggestions most welcome!

Cheers,

John

Looks great, that cat is waiting for you to turn around so it can jump on the car!

Thanks Guy ;-) Yeah, that's Puddles the cat.. he likes to 'help' me work on cars. He's especially fond of brushing himself against the paintwork I've just finished polishing :bawling:

man you have to take care of stuff, no matter what. my first car was an 88 ranger and i detailed it like a bentley. i know alot of guys with fancy cars that hit curbs and spill coffee in the radios. i guess thats why there is people like us, to take care of people like them.

Thanks all, appreciate your comments ;-)

Yeah, I hear ya Wes... I'm ridiculously over-protective of my Mirage, especially considering what it's worth. :-)

But that said, I find the work highly satisfying. Also, I plan on keeping it for at least another 5 years or so, and I want to keep it looking good until then.

I'm going to have to see how long it lasts with the #7 (many of the reviews say it's very short-lasting stuff). But hey, if I can get a couple of weeks out of it, I'd be reasonably amenable to doing it that often ;-)

Looks great! That model is called Mitsubishi Colt where I live. You can seal in the #7 using for instance Meg's #26 to make it last longer. Actually I think Meg's says you can use any of they're LSP's on top of #7, though some of the sealants may change the look somewhat. I think e.g. Natty's blue, P21S or Souveran would work fine on top of #7 too.

Ahhh, good to know, Zet ;-)

Yeah, all of the stuff I've seen on American sites about 'Mitsubishi Mirage' seems to refer to older models we had in Australia.

It's funny, because the 'Mitsubishi Colt' they sell here looks fairly different (though it did replace the Mirage). Current 'Colts' here are much more angular looking cars (Mitsubishi Motors Australia Ltd)

I'll definitely have a play with some LSPs I have sitting around here. Actually, I've been very impressed with the Mothers' Wax, painless to use, and looks pretty sharp. Plus, readily available :-)

Thanks again, guys!
