My Impressions of ClearKote after a full day of testing.

SRL, nice review. You mention other products that you have found to have better depth with dark colors. Which ones are you talking about? I found VM to provide my truck with alot more depth than I had before, but that could be attributed to the condition of my paint. You also mentioned that the VM had good reflections. What have you found that supplies good depth and reflections? Thanks for the review, Larry

Hi Larry,

Vanilla Moose did give the surface some depth, just not as much as I would have hoped for. I did a recent test of P21s GEPC and I have found it provides a nice balance of depth and reflection, and is amazingly easy to work with. Also, Meguiars #7 Show Car Glaze provides excellent depth, it can be somewhat annoying to work with at times though. :bigups

Hey SRL!

Thanks again! I really appreciate reviews that take an unbiased, step by step approach. I find that their value assists me in determining if a particular product will fit in to my detailing routine. I am a perfectionist at heart as I am sure most of us are, otherwise we would not be here!! :D

Very informative and helpful review as always ShowroomLincoln.

I was thinking of trying VM under S100, but I guess I'll be sticking with my old standby GEPC. I do think I'll give their QD a try though.

Thanks for the info. :up

Everyone else has said it, but I will too... Awesome review. This one should be saved somewhere people can see so they can see what a good Autopian review looks like.

As for the vanilla moose, how would you say it compares to p21s/s100 glazes? You mentioned there are others you like more, what are they?

Dr. Jones,

IMO the P21s GEPC is much better than VM. The depth of GEPC is much better, and it goes on like a dream. Slickness is also superior to VM. :up

I also think Meguiars #7 has better depth than VW, but #7 can be hard to work with at times. I would give P21s GEPC the nod over #7.

I find that GEPC never gives the wet look of megs no 7 or megs hand polish. After GEPC i always apply one or the other, results are great. Will be trying VM soon.

To me, Clearkote products give a wet and reflective finish. I will agree it isn't as deep as a carnuba is, so that is why I usually top with S100.

You may want to try VM with a carnuba topper and see what your impressions are.

BINGO... just what I need to find out before I ordered another Carnuba wax and Moose Wax. Thanks Scott

This weekend I also tried out the VM Glaze and Quikshine for the first time. To my eyes, the VM Glaze gave a deeper, wetter looking shine than P21 GEPC which I had been using. Both GEPC and VM Glaze are excellent products and if I was detailing as a pro, I doubt anyone would complain about either one. Personally I prefer the shine VM gives and think its far from just an 'average' glaze. I have to admit though...the recent threads about Mother's Glaze have me curious and I'll probably be trucking down to Pep-Boy$ to compare it to GEPC and VM. :-)
