I town in Tennessee requires a $75 annual fee if you want them to put out a house fire. The house in the article burned to the ground as the fire department stood right there and watched. The home was destroyed and 3 dogs perished in the fire.............

Yes, that story is all over the news here, and from what I have heard all over the world. What a bunch of knuckleheads. All the town would've had to do was file for a lien against the property for the unpaid $75 fee. Very bad deal indeed /:)

I see this as the owner's fault more than anything else. When local governments get cheap because citizens think they pay too many taxes (services is a waste of money due to angry tax payers), this is the result. So, citizens decide what protection they want. The owner decided and paid the price. I wonder if the owner has insurance. The article did not seem to say.

It was a trailer and would have likely been mostly a total loss anyway so I view this more a political discussion.

haha i ment a 10:00 at night and we had a superintendent conference
