My GTI needs its blink to pop

Good Sunday morning,

My 06 GTI looks very sharp when in the shade or when the lighten is flat like when it is over cast but in bright sun in some panels there are swirls and holograms That I can see that I want gone. I can do this by hand or using a PC-7424 but what concerns me more is the product used.

If I go out to the Mothers or Meguiar’s forum I get an ear full of ‘use my product’, and for the most part I have been using Meguiar’s and the results have been very good but is there something better? I presently have a few coats of NXT on my daily ride which gets washed every week with a detailing wipe down after it is dried. I know that I can #82 or #80 with a top coat of NXT to address my swirls and such but is there something better?

For the most part I know that Klasse, Sonus, and Meguir’s are all good products but for my red paint is there some thing better then NXT, and Meguir’a for sending my swirls packing. The more I read the more confused I get so your input will be greatly appreciated.

Help :sadwavey: :sadwavey:

VW paint is pretty hard, so I would recommend picking up some Optimum Polish, and if needed, Optimum Compound. They work long with no dust, meaning you can remove more defects as you are working the polish longer. Try the Polish on a light cutting pad before moving up to the Compound on a light cutting pad. Follow it with a polishing pad and the Polish and your surface should be swirl/hologram free.

Oh my god not another product to consider. Thank you I am looking at their web site right now "http://www.optimumcarcare.com/optimumpolish.html"

Menzerna 106FF or Blackfire SRC Finishing Polish (or Optimum or Menzerna FPII or...)

And a good Carnauba! (Meguiar's #26, P21S/S100, FK Pink Wax or ....)

LOTS of options! prepare to be overwhelmed.

NXT isn't a bad product..you just need to get those swirls out for ANY product to really shine (literally)

I have a 2004 Golf in red and, unfortunately, getting swirls out is not easy. You may have to go to 4" pads on the PC. I was using orange pads on my Cyclo and even that barely did anything. As far as polishes go, I had the best luck with Menzerna PO106FF. It's expensive, but worth it IMO.

You might also want to consider glazes, like Clearkote Red Moose Machine Glaze, even if you don't really need to fill. It'll make your red really gleam.
