My first run with M105

If you have Optimum Polish or Compound, mixed it 50/50 on the pad. You still get a lot of cut but with significantly longer working time. Used 105/OC this afternoon on a Mustang and it got all the spider swirling out in one polishing session-and I was able to work the 105/OC blend for a full two minutes-even better, I notice no hologramming and kept the rotary at 1000 rpm.

Ooohhh, I'm going to try 105/OP if I have 105 issues, hehe.

I gotta try the OP/105 50/50 mix, when it kept flashing and drying almost instantly on the panel, I wanted to kill something.

How many people go 105/wool to Ultrafina on black paint?

I've done 105/Meguiars foam polishing pad to Ultrafina on a black Z06. On softer paint, you may or may not need to use an intermediate step between the two.

Probably not possible with a wool pad with some cut to it right? That's probably why 3M recommends it after an intermediate polish (their Swirl Eliminator) and not compound.

Considering that 105 can cut so well, would it be a bad idea to use 105 on soft paints such as Honda/Acura paint? I'm guessing you can still 2-step the softer paints but just use something less aggressive like an Edge green wool/foam or purple foamed wool with 105. Do you think that would be fine or would it still be too much cut?

I got the pad from my Optimum/LC distibutor. I just assumed it was an LC pad because those are what he sells. I'll try to get hold of him tomorrow and see who makes the pad. I'll also try to get the pics up tonight.

Please let us know when you find something out.

i did and it worked perfectly. something makes me want to believe that ultrafina is full of fillers. it finishes too perfectly.

i will have to grab some OC and try to cut the 105 with it. anyone have better success with the gumming issues using a foam pad? i was using an edge yellow.

is there something else i could mix 50/50 with M105? I have a lot of extra waxes/other polishes but no optimum compound. will QD work?

I've been mixing old 105 with Meg's Ultimate Compound 50/50 lately and it's been working great. Not the same cut as straight 105 but much nicer to work with if you don't need the full cut that 105 has.
