My first Rotary 7 year old White GrandAm

How would you rate the hardness of the paint? Is it pretty hard when compared to others? I am going to be doing my 2003 GAGT in a couple of weeks but I will only be using a PC.

Chris it wasn't bad harder than some but not as hard as the last Nissan I had to correct. 1 pass with SIP showed a great improvement and 2 got out 90% of the problems.

Fantastic job, the car looks great. A rotary is pretty easy to get used once you get over the fear. This website and some of the members jsut try to scare the heck out of people to make themselves feel more important. Don't get me wrong, you can do some serious damage with one, but not if you are careful. The hardest part to get used to is the pulling part. It really can yank you all around the darn car. But obviously you got it down. The white is absolutely brilliant. You must have felt very proud when done as well you should be.



My local Menards had there Makita 9227's on closeout this past week. They are not going to carry them anymore. I bought there last two for 149.00 each. I split time between both of my locations so now I have brand new rotaries at both places.



Once again, you rock and keep up the great work!!!!

Mine is a few years newer and in VERY nice shape but a few years of using cotton towels to wash, dry and wax/polish(before I knew what I was doing ) took a bit of a toll on paint. I have been wanting to use the best combo I can with my PC..I have LC 4" pads as well and even if it helps to use those for the tighter areas, I will. Do either of you have experience with the Optimum products? I was thinking of picking up some 3M stuff too...I want to make sure its done as nicely as possible,

Don't be scared of it. If you start out at a lower RPM until you get the feel of it you will have more time to react to it trying pull you all over the place. It took me most of the hood to start to get comfortable so thats 4 passes over a pretty big hood. Using smaller 6" pads will help as well I found the 8" pad would drag me all. Once you feel like your getting the hang of it just up the speed a bit. Each time you change surface I would lower the speed. I went back to about 800RPM when I started on the C pillars, doors bumpers etc each pass i upped the RPM a few 100.



It's not at all what I expected I thought I would spend the entire time scared to death that I was going to burn the paint. As long as you keep moving and watch your speed you will be fine. My Rotary has a trigger that operates like a throttle no the on off that the PC has. That makes it great for cutting in and picking up product.



Like anything in life your not born with experience that you get by doing so get out there and try it.

Thanks very much for the tips. I'm eager to start polishing, I don't think it will be too hard, but I'm gonna give it a go and start out on the lowest rpm's and work my way upwards. :goodjob
