Alright well we finally landed some nice weather so i decided to get up early and get a good start.

Wash: Meguiars CG 2 bucket method

Paint Correction: Optimum Polish w/white and gray pads.

Optimum Compound w/white pad on trunk (repaint)

Poli-Seal by hand.

Makita was used only, no pc for finish.

I only did half the car, i kept trying methods on how to remove holograms, its absolutely ridiculous how little OP you have to put on the pad. Tomorrow will be the other half and interior will be done next weekend when my optimum protectant (and new pads) get here.

8 2 pass of OP/white @1400rpm didnt cut it so i ran it once with OC w/white @1400 (still not pleased but im not going for show here this is my practice car lol)

thank you, car has 128k miles on it and been as far as south as VA and far north as Montreal haha.



I gotta figure out how to not cuz holograms, im adding a step by trying to remove em with a gray pad and OP, i should try blue and OP next see if that works better
 
Looks like you are off to an excellent start! Are you going to use Poli-Seal as your LSP or is it your final polish and carnauba base?
 
Poli Seal will be my final polish and LSP if that makes sense...



I induced some slight marring trying to whip the dust off the car without using QD or washing the car (thats my fault), so im hoping that poli-seal will get rid of all that and give the car a nice shine.

Ill be putting it on with a gray pad @1000rpm until it becomes clear then wipe off.

Its either that or NXT but that has to many fillers in it.



Now i did cause some slight holograms but i was also able to fix them using the rotary so it is possible to finish LSP with a rotary, just gotta get used to it and ive been at this for 2days now haha...i dont like to give up and buy another machine, i like to learn. So ive learned that OP only needs an absolutely ridiculously small amount on the pad to do its work



I wanted to thank Scottwax,lecchilo,Anthony Orosco, accumulator and whoever else helped me answer all my questions...Thanks for the help guys i really appreciate it. Hopefully my next in line will be that 99 Malibu (should make for some impressive turn around pictures)

Good work! It takes some time to get the hang of a rotary. Using a soft pad (p2 green) and a finishing polish will net you some good practice without the chance of much damage.
 
Just for fun i thought id post this up (real clue to how much i drive the car, took a trip to Montreal yup in the winter)

Thanks guys, yea i finally got the hang of the rotary, ill be doing an extremely beat up 96 explorer on Saturday though so we'll see how that comes out, heh why not heres another one from beginning of winter

P.S. You can see in the first montreal pic that at the lower right of the bumper theres a huge piece of paint missing, thats poor body work when i had my accident.I hit a pill of snow coming into my driveway, thought it was snow but the paint came right off
 
Here you go guys more pics for your delight, gave it a wash (already) with gold class and microfiber mite i got at autozone, dried with the absrober (i think i might have caused extremely slight micro marring) time to buy a new one. THen i gave it another coat of poli-seal w/gray pad @1000rpm

4 Decided to see what i could do, use an old micro and meguiars mag/wheel polish, ran out of polish.

7 Finally got it under some halogens, bought a set over the weekend. This was from last weekend after 2xOP and now 2xOPS

yea i had some very minor holograms in some places (to much polish and/or didnt work it in enough) at least now i know what im def doing wrong, so i decided to go over it with poli again and get em removed.
 
Try a blue finessing LC pad 6.5" I find it nearly impossible to leave holograms with that pad and a very fine final polish. I have the Optimum line but they are sitting in the basement collecting dust. I would recommend Menzerna FPII or 106FF for a final finish polish. :)
