Well, this is my first post on this forum but I have been doing my research for quite awhile on here. I just swirl removed my friends 2004 STi, using my Makita rotory. Sorry for the crappy pics, but I didn't have my tripod with me and the lighting where I was working was horrible, sorry no befores. My process was as follows:
Wash/dry vehicle
Clay with Blackfire Polyclay
Menzerna IP w/ LC yellow pad @ 1400rpm
IP/106FF/RMG combo 20/60/20 w/ green pad @ 1200rpm
AJ trigger x2 on everything but hood
Carnuba Jett on hood
I was doing just an exterior swirl removal on this car, so I didn't get crazy with the rest of the car. The owner was there and helped a bit with the process and I left the clean-up work for him :grinno:
For some reason the Menzerna IP could not get those dents out no matter how hot I got that fender :lol
Just wanted to add that I was extremely impressed with the green german polishing pad that I used from Classic Motoring. With the 20/60/20 mix of IP/106FF/RMG it perfomed wonders and completely removed any hazing left from the straight IP and yellow LC pad and had the paint LSP ready. This was my first time implementing a glaze to my process, and I think I have found myself a new finishing step with my rotory. I figure if I am working on a dark car, I will use the IP/106FF at a 25/75 mix, then glaze the car seperately with the RMG by itself w/ a blue LC finishing pad to make the paint dripping wet. Let me know what you guys think, all you guys do great work and it takes someone who does this for a living to really appreciate the quality of work you all perform :up
