this weekend im going to tackle my first paid detail! im excited :getdown :getdown

anyways, its a black 2000 mustang gt vert. its my buddies, he said that the wants swirl marks removed, so heres gonna be my technique, please critique it:

wash

clay bar

wash again

poorboys ssr 2.5 orange (if needed)

poorboys ssr 2.5 white (if needed)

poorboys ssr 1 white pad

dry w/ electric leaf blower

megs gold class wax w/ pc blue finishing pad

im gonna do just an exterior detail to start off, and maybe an interior if he wanted it.

any extra steps that you guys would recommend, or anything that i should do that im not including?

also a recommendation about wax, thought about trying NXT paste wax, heard it's good OTC stuff.

Not sure why you said "If needed", if it's a black car, it's needed :waxing:

Even if you're not gonna do the interior, vaccuum it for them, every crack and crevice... And make sure to clean the windows inside and out!

Best to overdeliver and "not make $40 extra", and use that to make him tell 4 friends about you :Paypal:

As for a wax, I would recommend Meguiars #26 Yellow Wax merely beause you can get it OTC.

SSR2.5 + orange, followed by SSR1 + white. It might take many passes of SSR2.5 before the swirls are gone, but it should be goooooood. After you've broken down the SSR2.5, wipe the residue off and inspect your work with proper lighting. If it is still swirled, apply more SSR2.5 and repeat. Once it is good, SSR1 + white to remove the marring and then gold class wax. No point going out to buy NXT unless you are finishing your Gold Class.

You might want to "dry w/electric leave blower" before you start in on polishing. :2thumbs:

yeah sorry guys, im an idiot. i meant to put that before the polishing. thanks for the advice though ;)

and the car is one of my best friends, not your avg. run of the mill customer. he's big on my local mustang forum board. he said he would take some before and after pics to show my talents for the board, and try to get me some business. i said i'd do all that for $75, so he's gettin a deal and a half
