My first McLaren SLR

Welll after posting pictures of the other slr I figured I'd throw up a couple of the first one I worked on.

It has 200 kms on it. Most of the vehicle was hazy from really light swirls. On the hood there were some deeper markings - I think someone was rubbing at the paint with a cotton towel or something.

I went at the scrapes with a cutting pad and Optimum Compound at around 1500 RPM. I then went over the whole car with Optimum Polish and a white pad also at 1800 RPM, slowing it down a bit for some of the concave body work.

I finished with FPII on my PC at speed 5, then followed with Menzerna FTG.

You can see in the fourth before picture what a great effect the Optimum Polish is having.

Thanks for looking.

Curious what kind of reaction the owner had upon getting it post-detailing. Was he impressed, or did he get what he was expecting?

This is actually an exotic dealership here in town. The car either arrived locally or from elsewhere in NA. Not sure exactly.

did you get to drive it?

No. There was still snow on the roads as of yesterday here. Also, most people won't take these cars on the roads until after the gravel is cleared, which is usually late April and early May. Even if it was mid-summer I wouldn't expect to be given the chance to drive it ... I'll have to work hard and save my pennies and buy my own :lol

Jed,

Excellent finish and photos! I detailed one of these in Begium last year, and what an awesome car and perfect in every way... the sound of the engine is something else...

Kind Regards

Paul

Miracle Detail.

It's hard to describe the feeling of receiving such high praise from those I admire most in the industry. Thank you.
