I have alot of time on my days off from work, so I figured I'd learn to detail cars to make a few extra $$(drinking money:p )

I was very pleased with the final result. I kinda liked doing the whole process, lots of hard work, but in the end, its worth it.

Used Meguiars Car wash(purple bottle), #9 Swirl Remover, #7 Show car glaze & topped with S100

You really brought back that red:xyxthumbs

My only dislike is the glossy tires. I think it would look 10X better with a matte look. What did you use on them?

Love how the color really seems to be alive :bow! One suggestion: You need to get a photo of it in a decent shade so you can reveal the dark side of it :idea. The tires are a little to greasy, but I always tend to have them that way and will know that they will fade away later on. If you really wanted to cut down on the greasyness of the tires then it would be obvious to just wipe them down till they are at the right contrast to you. But of course it's just suggestions. Great job :xyxthumbs ! Keep up the good work, and welcome to the addiction of car detailing :scared !

Happy Motoring,

Kurt

Looks good, but don't forget to spray some protectant into the fenderwells so they have a nice black look also. Other than that, looks great. That polish/wax combo really gives that Tiburon a nice wet look. :up

Very nice job. How long did it take you since you did it by hand? What did you use to buff and polish (MF or Cotton towels)?

It took me about 3 1/2 hours. I used Terry towels to buff & polish.

Thanks for the info Scott, I'll remember that from now on

Nice work, RedDemonSA.

Personally, I think the wet look is good on that car's tires, even though I generally like matte/satin on my own.

One little tip about tire-dressing application: somebody suggested (and I can't remember who/where, though maybe in Concours prep thread) that we "feather out" the tire dressing as we approach the tread, so that there's not such a sharp line between "dressed" and "naked." I've been experimenting with that technique and am much more happy with it.

Nice job!:xyxthumbs

The red really livened up!

I'd have to agree that the tires will look better

once some of the shine has faded to matte.

But if you like 'em shiny, then make 'em shiny.

Putting some Megs #40 in the wheel wells and

on the mini mud flaps will clean and darken them

too.

My philosophy with tire shine is that on a car with a lot of gloss to the paint, a red like that, or a black or a dark color matte tire shine looks best. On something like silver, or while, a little more gloss is nice.

Looks great though!

Dont sweat the tire shine... most of my customers (non car- enthusiast types) prefer the bling bling look of the ultra shine. I, on the other hand, prefer a less glossy dressed finish. Its an extremely subjective matter.

Nice job on the car overall!!!
