My engine dressing durability after 3 weeks

Yup, the Mustang is a daily driver (89K miles to date). I guess I should be more specific, maybe durability was not the correct word to use. CD2 does last but, the heat from the engine bay makes it oily and it tends to collect road debris (in Florida it was sand) to the point where it has to be completely cleaned up and redone all too frequently. I was far happier with Meguiars Engine Kote even with its finicky application requirements.

OK, thanks for clarifying that. It sounds like the stuff almost "melts" when underhood temps go sky high - - ungood. :( I'll keep an eye out for that. That would be a deal killer for me.



I've got the Engine Kote product, too. Never had any luck with it. It was always a mess - - maybe you can share your secret. :) I've been trying to use it up by misting it on wheel well areas.

What process did you use to apply the Hyper dressing? Spray and bake or spray and wipe?

You need a good spray bottle that will "mist" well. I use old Meguiars Quick Detailer bottles as I have great luck with the do mist well. I also mix some water with Engine Kote. I didn't put much water in, just enough to make it easier to mist.
 
Yeah, I've got it in a bottle with a good mister. Maybe my dilution was all wrong. What are you proposing?

Has anyone tried using Poorboys B 'n B? I recently did a quick simple green rinse and used it on some of the rubber and plastic under the hood. I liked it alot better than Megs #40 (their vynyl and rubber conditioner I believe)



(Don't mind my horrid colour coordination heh)

I like the hyper dressing idea. Something you can dillute and have a lottt of it.



I've heard the AA foam cans only last like one per engine, maybe 2. Especially if your using this for fenderwells. Which just gave me the idea, Hyper dressing on fenderwells???

It's true they don't last all that long, but I can dress the wells probaly about 3 times and the engine once or twice, too with one can. I think I can even do some tire applications too.



Also I guess it depends on the engine bay too heh.



But yea, I'm sure hyper dressing would be cheaper for bulk work!
 
Hyper Dressing 4:1 works great in wells. You can even spray it in while they're still wet though you need to spray a fine mist. It will level out on it's own.
