I was there!? :)

As for all the pictures, what can I say but 'wow!'

I'd love to meet you and spend some time with you to see what I could be doing better.

I'm only 90mins from Columbus.

Dean...I met some really great people while at the show, and too bad we didn't get the opportunity as well. Just let me know if you ever have plans to come up to the Central OH area and I could have you stop by. And thanks for the kind words. :)

Awesome thread! So, how do you like the compounds from Sonax and how are they in comparison to Xpert polishes?

Thank you! Well I've never used products from Xpert, but I can say that the Pro-line polishes and compounds from Sonax (not yet available in the US) are good...very good!

Thank you...glad you enjoyed it as much as I did.

I 've already said all the good things in DI, but since I get the opportunity I will do it here as well.

Truly epic stuff and huge respect to your taking the time to answer every question despite your crazy busy schedule!

Thank you so much!

Ah, my mistake then. Wich Sonax polishes do you prefere, since I am from "over the pond" we can get them very easily.

Very cool to have "virtually" witnessed the transition of you quitting the 9-5 gig and moving to grinding on paint full time at such a successful level... Well done!

Thanks buddy...seems like such a long time ago...time flies when you're having fun. :)

Out of their current Profiline, Perfect Finish is a wonderful product that you should look into (not available in the U.S.). And their new compound and finishing polishes are outstanding as well, but I'm not sure that they've even released them yet. If so, they've just released them. I was using their compound (5 cut, 5 finish out of their 6 point scale) teamed up with a MF Cutting Disc on a Ferrari 458 recently, and it was almost like cheating!

Hey Todd, Been getting a lot of positive feedback regarding Sonax nano tech polish. Can you let me know your thoughts on this product? In my research your name has come up a couple of times in regards to this product. MEL

I really enjoyed reading your write up Todd. You sure had a wonderful year. Sorry about your dad.

PS: It was nice meeting you in Vegas. (finally)

Todd,

Great to see the business continue to succeed and grow. It goes without saying but your work is top notch and inspirational to the little guys in the business.

From reading through some of your early threads it seems that Autopia is where your roots in detailing began. It would be great if you could contribute here more when you can. Especially when so many people including myself value what you write.

I wish I had more hours in the day to cruise the forums, but I just have too many responsibilities on my plate these days! I've done over 150 articles on the two blogs, so there's plenty of reading material out there if you're interested...and you can always subscribe to get updates when a new one is posted!

Is there any reason why you can't post these articles on Autopia too? I believe there's a blog area here too. You're just a copy and paste away.

Looks like Todd's gone from complete Newb to Pro in less than 3 short years. Or would you say 1.5 years? That's an awful lot to ackomplish in such a short period of time. How did you learn so much so fast?

It's much easier for others to pop over for a visit or subscribe to updates than it is to post in multiple locations. And besides, the majority of the articles are designed for both websites to be exclusive content.

I've been full-time for 1.5 years, and part-time for longer than that. There are many top-level pros still out there operating strictly on a part-time basis. It's just something that I've always had as a hobby and passion...going all the way back to BMX bicycle days (always had the cleanest bicycle)! When you have an eye for it (or a sickness, rather), then picking up the small details and absorbing information and knowledge comes quite easily...for me and for many others. Personally, I don't do anything with the desire to be just average. If you're going to do something, then why not invest the time, effort, and energy to play at the top of your game? As an example, when I was 40 I had never worn a pair of ice skates in my life. I tried speedskating, and by the time I was 42 I was competing at the National Championships against others that had been doing it for 15+ years.

All of this information is on the Bio page of my personal website / blog to serve as a reminder and inspiration to newer detailers (or whatever line of work that you're in). If one has the desire, passion, and determination they can succeed very quickly. Never stop learning and always continue to raise the bar for yourself. Sure it sounds like something out of the pages of a self-help book, but I've always subscribed to it and it has treated me well in both life and business over the years.

I hope this helps.

Without a doubt a great year by one of the best guy's you'll find. Always giving entertaining reads and information, and as I type this you should be on your way south to enjoy some warm weather and a nice Ferrari get-together :D

I like to think of this as a great example of what hard work and dedication can lead to. There's a lot of know-how and a TON of work that goes on behind closed doors. I often feel the easiest thing in detailing is the detailing. Write-ups, articles, potential clients, current clients, former clients, fellow detailers, enthusiasts, emails, phone consultations, meets/events, and let's not forget family. There's a lot going on a there's a lot to do. Correcting paint is the least of worries at this high level; it's all the small things that help to separate yourself from the pack of other skilled detailers in order to stand out.

Great year, and gl in 2012.
