My detailing packages - advice needed!

Have you mystery shopped any of the local competors in your area? Don't just look at there packages but shop them as an actual customer without giving your intentions. You will learn that there are base prices, but the true pricing is done when the vehicle is in front of you. Your sales skills will come into play then.

Set up pricing based on your area, don't sell yourself short. I did a paint correction on a Ferrari 360 14 hrs of labor it turned our perfect, the cost of the products used on that car close to 60$ (pads, polishes, cleaners, machine useage, etc) that is money you have to recup in your pricing structure.

Cheers,

GREG

Five Star, we'll see. On my next job, I'm gonna estimate how much $$ is just product.

Greg, I have not mystery shopped around. I have a friend that used to detail cars so I have gathered some information from him as well. Like I said, I'll adjust as I go. If people don't like the price increase, I can always use less $$ products on customer cars and save the good stuff for my baby.

I've made a couple changes to my "menu"... items in RED are not listed but more for your guys "approval"

Wax Package

- Hand wash / dry

- Clay if necessary

- Clean / protect paint with KAIO or ZAIO

- Apply high quality show car wax

- Apply a “Gloss Enhancer spray

Premium Package (removed the hand wash)

- Remove old polish / sealant / wax on paint with a Dawn wash

- Clay if necessary

- Clean and remove minor swirling / cobwebbing / paint defects

- Apply high quality show car wax

- Apply a “Gloss Enhancer spray

"clay if necessary" doesnt read well...so if car one needs it and car two doesnt, some price???

there should be a disclaimer stating additional fees apply somewhere for larger cars, heavier soiled cars, etc. Or just have the prices as "starting prices"

I've included this disclaimer.

****Prices are approximate and may vary depending on size/condition of vehicle. Agreed upon before any work is done. Amount of time spent will vary but I will spend whatever time is needed to get the job done.****

the prices don't seem to bad at all, it comes down to what you think YOU should be getting at the end of the day, another good point to make is maybe rising your prices a little bit, but offering discounts for new customer, customers with multiple cars, creating some specials, etc..... also the only reason why I would not state any products on your ads is that a lot of times (mostly on exterior) you will need to use different products on different cars, one compound might not work as well on one as it does on the other, what you can do though, is offer a "ZYMOL PACKAGE" or something of that sort.

Also the part that reads "clay if necessary" should be either removed or put clay bar application as one of the steps. Couple reasons, if you're getting into paint reconditioning with any polish, clean and prep your paint before doing anything, washing, dryin, and claying are parts of that. Also, a customer reading that (not understanding what it is) might think you're not doing it on your car to save time/rip him off. If you're really going to do it on an on need bases, just don't include it in the ad, and when you get to the customer's car either do it or don't....

I would combine the interior with the wax package to make it the classic wash+wax package because lets be real is $20 worth your time to drive out there and spend an hour on the car? I did the same thing when trying to figure out the packages I decided to go with a wash+wax because I could now justify driving out there and spending time on the vehicle. Here is my list wether anyone here likes it or not its just another referance.
