My Detail Approach - Please Critique

I have several chemicals in my arsenal here and have decided on this process, let me know if I can change anything for better results.

car: black 2002 jetta

-Wash

-dry

-Polish with yellow Propel pad and SSR2.5

-polish with white 6.5" VC LC pad SSR2.5

-Polish with FK blue 6" pad and Mothers Powerpolish

-Polish with white 6.5" LC VC pad and SSR1

-Glaze with 6.5" white LC VC pad and FK 303 Foam Pad glaze

-Apply FK Pink Wax

-fx-100 spray selant

-FK 425 final wipe down

Is this overkill? Anything I can eliminate? The car finish is good now, but contains minor swirls, but overall healthy paint for 38,000 miles and no defects.

I have this in my arsenal:

-PC 7424 with backing plate

-2 Propel Yellow pads

-2 FK Green Pads

-2 FK Blue Pads

-4 LC VC White pads

-1 LC Red Finishing pad

-SSR2.5

-SSR1

-Mothers PowerPolish

-Mothers Reflections

-FK Pink Wax

-FK FX100

-FK 425

-Many, many MF towels from properautocare.com

Thanks!!

one thing i would add would be a claybar and another wash and dry before you start polishing. as for cutting things out, i wouldnt know (im still without a pc :( )

Wow, where to start...

You've got a pretty good list of products and an attack plan but a few things to help out on:

1) First thing I saw off the bat was the cutting pad used with SSR2.5. Now it's hard to say since we don't have a picture of the paint quality but I'd recommend beginning with an Orange Propel P1 or P2 with SSR2.5 and move up if needed. A friendly tip is to always start low and work your way up rather than going to the near extremes (SSR3 would have been overkill unless you're paint is heavily oxidized and marred).

This is the hardest part to lay out an outline for because detailing is all trial and error. If something doesn't work, try a different product until you've achieved the results you want.

2) Your polishing stages are a bit overkill IMHO. SSR2.5 should be able to remove most of the swirls/scratches but will probably leave some slight hazing and/or light marring. I would most definately finish up with a finer polish such as SSR1 or my favorite, FPII (OP is great also) but SSR1 is what you've got).

3) Glazing looks good! Never used 303's glaze before

4) Another flag came up here on the LSP stage. A good recommendation is to also seal then top with a carnauba if you're going both. Sealants are picky when it comes to bonding and will bond to paint well (and typically no issues with glazes) but bonding to a carnauba is a whole different story. You always want the hard protection underneath the "soft" protection. If a wax is underneath, the sealant will wear just as fast as the wax (although this is all from what i've read here; I'm still waiting on ordering some sealants *JW AJ and Z2 Pro* and have no first-hand experiences with them)

5) Best of luck and I hope some of this helps a little! ;)

Cheers,
