ok well yesterday i did 3 cars a 03 alero, 99 camry and a 99 mystique. well first i did the alero its ruby red, dawn wash and i didnt have to do any compounding or anything because the car was well maintained and new. anyways i put a coat of Z1 followed by Z5 results were amazing. moving onto the white 99 camry the previous owner had it wet sanded (maybe) cause there was sand grit allover the paint and it was very dull. i took out my PC with orange pad and with 3M perfect it II RC at around 4500rpms buffed the whole car. i must say it came to a real nice shine and with NO 98% scratch swirl free finish. after i did a 50 50 water/alcohol to get the residue off and zainoed. it came out excellent. now heres the big pain in the ***. a 99 BLACK not well maintained mystique (mercury). i started the same with that as i did with the camry with the orange pad and all i gotta say is i did the hood and i wasnt cutting through the clear very well at all. there was heavy oxidation, water marks, and heavy swirls. i pretty much gave up cause it was my stepdads and hes trading it in and thought that i would need a more abrasive pad or something like a wool pad and a heavier cut rubbing compound. for kicks i put zaino on it and said screw it. when the car was outside it looked shiny and great but if it was under any direct light u could see all the flaws it was bad. so that was my day.

i have some questions now. i am a new zaino user and i used the pad zaino sent me. its ok but do u think a small foam applicating pad would work better? also it says to wait atleast 30 min to dry before takign off Z5. after apply Z5 within 5-10 minutes i ran the finger test and it was powder and ready to come off is this ok or should i wait longer? one more questions, should i slow my speed down when compounding? also im thinking about experimenting with a wool pad for compounding work. how are the meguiars red and black cutting pads?

P.S. will have pics soon
