My completed garage with pics

I built my own 3 car detached garage with loft about a year ago by myself, it took me a little over a year to complete. I did all the work myself except the concrete, brickwork, roofing shingles and the gutters. I also only fell off the roof once....really.

Hi guys, I have an unfinished 32' X 16' X 8' loft upstairs. The downstairs footprint is 36' wide X 32'deep. The front door leads right into the staircase that goes upstairs. I might finish it off someday...insulate and sheetrock but I don't really need to right now and I need to take a break from this project anyway. I'm really lovin' having all this garage space.

As well you should!!

Congratulations on a wonderful project!! Nice looking space. I can only imagine how it must be nice to have a little time off from a project like that. How is the downsairs matching up to the toys that you have to fill them? In other words, do you always have room to detail?

It's already filled up but I have plenty of space to work inside as it it 32' deep so there's a lot of room to move around. The truth is that after I finished it I wondered why I didn't build a 4 car instead of a three. It wouldn't have been that much extra work to do it but.... "live and learn."

Wow! First class looking construction. Very professional looking, and I love the brick.

THat's why I paid the professionals to do the brick. I used the same brick/shingles that are on my house.

Cool garage now let's get to the important part. Where are the cars?

My cars are basically in my Sig plus an old '94 Caravan "beater" that goes in there also. I have a 2 car garage attached to my house for my son's car and my work truck.

Nice - It's just like the garage I'm going to build, but mine will be a 6 car garage. How much did your garage cost to build? How deep would it need to be to comfortably park 3 cars wide X 2 cars deep?

Very nice looking garage. Did you install any extras? Like maybe a drain in the floor, heat, organizer/cabinet system, or maybe a satellite hook up?

I found a photo of the loft upstairs before the stairs were in, it's unfinished right now. Before I finished the final grading I paid a guy $20. to dig a trench to the garage from my house. I buried a conduit pipe to garage and I pulled the TV cable, a CAT5 wire from my network and a pair of phone wires through it. I've got computer access and TV while I'm working in there so I can keep up with the Autopia Forums. :)

Nice job!

I have never heard a man say that he should have built a smaller garage....always bigger.

Thanks for all the kind words. Here's a side view showing the house and garage together. The house has a 2 car garage directly facing the detached garage and they share the same driveway. We designed & built the house 8 years ago from a plan we found in a magazine and the plans for the 3 car garage were purchased online at http://www.coolhouseplans.com for $150.

BTW, I'm not a builder but have contracted two other houses in the past.

Very nice home you have there. And looks like you have plenty of garage space. Best of luck to you completing your garage. That top unit should prove a safe, peaceful, haven. :2thumbs:
