My car never needs to be waxed...

Jim, ONR with a few 5 gallon buckets full with water and you are set. I got a couple of them from work if you want.

Angelo, I need power for the Vac which I do not carry with me. No big deal I think I found someone who will do the job....

Perma Plate has been one of the rip off dealer applied sealants since the early '80's. It used to be that it was the defacto standard here in Utah. Thankfully, it's not as common anymore as it was.

All these dealer applied sealants are nothing more than a different spin on the "ADP" markup or "Additional Dealer Profit" markup so common on dealer price stickers. Instead of just slapping on the ADP, they're trying to "justify" it with a "product".

I'll end this post now since I've hit my quotation mark usage limit.

Some people just won't believe that most auto sales people are the biggest bunch of crooks alive. They tell people anything to make a sale .I was in the auto stereo and alarm business for years .When the auto sales folk were telling everyone that it would void their warranty to have an alarm done by anyone but the dealer which was the biggest crock of crap.Since the I did most of the same dealers work .They just wanted to make a sale of a system that they pay 150.00 and charge the customer 800-900 and then don't want to hear about later.

Is this not a crime stealing from the ignorant? Talking about getting :sign I hope I never meet a person like this....sigh.... Man what has this world come too>? That is why I call every dealership "STEALERSHIP!" If someone told me I needed this "package" I would of .....:bat .....LOL!

Here's a written description of the product dealers are using,

Amazing Glaze Paint Sealant

Amazing Glaze® is a flouro polymer based paint sealant with powerful additives that allow it to bond itself onto an already painted surface. The products multiple molecular properties provide maximum protection by "sealing" the pigment topcoats and clear coats of paint weather crystal clear coating and at the same time, providing a deep, long-lasting shine. Without any special tools required, you can apply AmazingGlaze to almost any vehicle in about an hour, as you would with an ordinary wax or polish, and you won't have to reapply for up to 5 years. What's more important is the time you will save maintaining your vehicle's appearance. Easily remove dirt, grease and bird acid by wiping with a damp cloth. Amazing Glaze is even able to withstand any type of car wash without melting or washing away.

I just read up on a couple sites that sell Amazing Glaze and Supagard. They both sound like any other paint sealant out there. For less than $30 for an 8oz bottle, that additional charge through the dealership is insane.

5 years sounds extremely unbelievable, but one site stated "up to a year or more" under some instances.

I just heard about this stuff yesterday when my dad bought a slightly used 06 Impala ss. When he first came home with it we talked about the car for a while then he mentioned that it would never had to be waxed for five years cause the person who bought it first had this trash done. I told him it was a bunch of B.S. I cant wait to wash it and see what it does.

Funny thing is these are the same people that complain about the cost of doing full detail !!! Go figure ?

Exactly!!!

These peeps are totally getting sucked in at the dealership, paying 450-800 bucks for a snake oil application that will probably be gone from their paint the first time they take it through the local swirl-o-matic, yet they look like they've been tasered when told a complete detail of their car using today's best of line products is gonna run 200 bucks. Man, those dealerships must have golden tongues or mind control rays.

get a powerful battery operated hand held vac, instead of going over the entire interior with it initially just use a few interior brushes and brush it into a pile and suck it up, no biggie. it wont do the best job but it will help you out.

Thats a good call Va! Thanks man. Its too late for this one, Ive already referred it. Anyways, she was a cheapie. Didnt mind spending 800 bucks on a coat of sealant though. Go figure....

I just picked up some sales books. I want to know how in the world someone could hoax someone into an $800 wax job and I have trouble selling a full $200 detail.

I've also been doing the same thing. I also finally picked up The E Myth Revisited that is often recommended on this site. Let us know what you've learned!

The dealer tried to sell me one of these packages when I bought my BMW and then the Lexus (same dealership). Called Paintguard or something like that. Deal was they redo it every 6 months as part of the program. Some sort of liquid sealant they spray on.

A lot of the customers for this price range vehicle don't even wash their own car and are willing to pay for just about anything if they don't have to stoop to manual labor. I know because some are my friends.

They take the car in every 2 weeks for a "detail job" at Ming. Never seen so many buffer swirls on one car in my life and they think it's a good job.

i was in sales for five years both retail and insurance via leads, one of the most important things i learned is to listen twice as much as you talk (hence the term thats why we have two ears and one mouth) the trouble with using text book sales strategies(which work wonders once youve mastered them no doubt) in this business is they arent buying something they have a lamen understanding of, therefore you have to explain and the more you do the more it can sound too good to be true or sound like something they dont think thier car needs, thats when your mind says, "do you spend hundreds of ours practicing techniques and visiting autopia lady? no? oh cause i do". i think it's best to keep it simple and explain how long it will take to rejuve thier car.

I have the same problem at work, I inform the customer how different products work on their house and the proper way in using them. They feel better now because the home improvement centers can't even explain on how to do the job right. Plus if it's not on sale i give them a 10% off the price!
