My car is covered in ash...

Yeah so some trees felt the urge to catch on fire up in Georgia, and the smoke/ash has made it down to Jacksonville. It was here last week too, but there was no ash with it. So today when it was smokey again i didnt think anything of it, until i went out to my car a little while ago and found it covered in ash.

So is there anything i need to worry about from this ash? Im leaving here tommorow to go back home, and so later this week i am going to be detailing it pretty good since its been down in Florida for a while. I took it for a drive and it all blew off, well most of it i think, but its still smokey out so im guessing its going to come right back. So yeah, is there anything i need to worry about from this ash?

Should be ok unless it gets wet. If it does rain and it rains alot, it will be ok. If it comes just a small rain and gets everything wet, you may want to spray it off really good.

hmm..you maybe right on that one...i do know that the ash + H20's pH is towards one end of the spectrum <5 or >10..either way..not a good outcome...

Just try to get it off your car as soon as you can.

Besides being chemically corrosive ash can be pretty gritty too. Use a light touch when washing it off. I prefer to use a boar’s hair brush for washing off ash since it rinses clean easily (and hopefully tends to nudge off particles rather than rubbing them in).

You’ll probably have to clay it too. It tends to cement itself on if there has been any dew or moisture at all.

PC.

I'm in the Jax, FL area and I too have ash on my car from the southern GA fires. Yesterday has been "smokey" and hazy. I did managed to wash my car without the sun being in the way since it was smokey all day.

I used a CA duster or I actually blew the ashes off of my car.

yeah im back home in charlotte now and i just washed the car and everything is fine. The car didnt get wet down in jax or on the drive home. Now i have something worse to worry about though, my damn cat jumping on the car. :angry
