My Best SG Application Procedure Yet!

So let me get this straight. You all are simply transferring the SG into a spray bottle, and spraying it undilluted onto a MF pad?

That's how I always did it, either wipe off immediately or let it cure for how ever long. Worked every time with little more than spraying some QD while removing with a MF.

Maybe i'm crazy but... according to Bob Faragasso, President of Klasse USA, he says to let the SG sit on the car overnight. He says the longer you let it dry the easier it will come off.

He also says to wait 8 hours between coats of SG. That gives it it's proper time to cure. Otherwise your not really layering it.

The SG cannot be any easier to remove than what I experienced by rubbing it into the paint. I know that waiting overnight made the SG MORE difficult to remove in places where it was applied too thick.

As for waiting between coats, I'm a firm believer in that. I think waiting a week is ideal. You KNOW it's cured by then. The quickest I've ever applied the next coat is 28 hours. It seemed to work fine; but I'd rather wait longer.

I believe full cure happens within 48 hours, but 80% is cured within 1 hour. So I guess the 24 hour recommendation gets you virtually there. It's definitely a matter of diminishing returns in terms of how long you wait.

Mike,

I also noticed that rubbing it in allowed me to get a thinner coat, so maybe that is why you are experiencing?

SG/AJ basically has two layers to buff off. The top layer is the hazed up residue that comes off easy. Below that is the white stain looking material that you cannot easily see. If you buff off the top layer, on a lighter color, you can only see the acrylic stain type residue at certain angles. That is the part that is hard to get off. Then finally of course is the actualy SG that made it onto the paint, but up close, that is invisible to the naked eye.

Basically you need to minimize this excess top layer when applying for best results.
