My 99 Cobra Detailing - NXT 2.0

I had a couple new things I wanted to try out... namely 106ff and NXT 2.0. I also used my grout sponge for the first time. I gotta say... best $2 I spent on detailing products. :up

I probably don't need to say much more than "I concur" as regards to 106ff... that stuff is amazing! I was impressed with its ability to correct being that is was a finish polish and of course the amazing gloss it leaves behind. Truly a world class product!

NXT 2.0 looked great too. I did have some very minor streaking (you can see it in one of pictures... kuddos to the first one to find it!) but it looked as good if not better than any sealant I've used. Very easy to use and smelled great!

I snapped a bunch of pictures (over 30) so the full set of pictures is on my blog... but here is three to sum it up.

Click on any of the pictures to go to the blog page with the rest of the pictures...

Looks amazing. Did you rewash the car or use prepsol before applying NXT. 106ff is the balls, but it does require that you remove the lubricant before applying a sealant. Hell, even most AIO's won't bond over 106ff well unless the car is wiped down with a prep or washed first.

PS your an MMA fan? I train with some UFC fighters (American Top Team Orlando) including a couple guys who where on TUF (Seth Petruzelli/season 2) and Ben Saunders from this season. I have been on the UG since 1998, to give you an idea of how long I have been into it.

I forgot to mention it in the blog writeup (I need to edit it to add this because like you said it is key...) but I did an IPA wipe down on the whole car before applying the NXT 2.0.

I'm a huge mma fan! I watched UFC 1 as soon as it was released as a DVD and then watched pretty much every UFC, Pride and COC event live or the day after. I've trained off and on lightly. Mostly submission wrestling with a local group who competes here in Greensboro.

That's cool that you train too! Have you ever been in any competitions?

ok guys i have to differ with you on the need for the IPA wipedown after 106ff. I have used it on numerous ocasions without a wipe down and have not had any negative effects that I can tell. I applied WOlfgangs deep gloss paint sealant right after the 106ff and 2 months later I still have excellent beading and protection. I had applied 2 coats 12 hours apart of the sealant and washed it about 5 times since the first application. Why do you feel the need to use the IPA wipedown? Have you tried NOT using the wipedown and noticed any difference from when you did?

It looks great!! Fatastic pics. What one thing would you say that you like most about NXT2.0 (Application, results).

Yes, of course I have used it with out an IPA wipedown and noticed a slight difference. IPA, IMO, doesn't cut it though on 106ff. For proper bonding of Zaino I have had to use prep-sol and rewash the car. I do this everyday, so I have a ton of experience on different paints and systems. Also, a lot detailers who do this frequently and use simliar products will tell you the same thing :D

I did the IPA wipe down strictly on the several recommendations I read on this board. I never tried without it. Honestly, I had a good bit of dusting on the car after I finished polishing so I need a cleanup. The IPA wipe down was convenient and I figure it ensures a perfectly clean surface. Can't hurt right.

Well it's early to comment on the durability, but if it is durable, that will make it my favorite. Looks, it was on par like I said with my other favorites (DG 105 and PB EXP). The smell made it quite enjoyable though!

Sorry about the hijack, lol. I wrestled 4 years in high school, but that is the limit of my competition experience. I mostly focus on grappling (I'm a purple in BJJ). I watched UFC 1 with Stephan Bonnar (of all people) because I used to take Tae Kwon Do with him back in the day, wierd huh. I was like 13 years old at the time...

The first UFC live I saw was UFC 22 when Frank S. beat Tito Ortiz, first row! I have been to several UFC's since, but honestly, I have lost interest as it has become more popular. I guess thats the problem with being an old time fan, is that you don't like change very much...

Hmmm...I'll have to experiment with this in the spring
