My 87 Conquest TSI

I actually just sold this beauty and I miss her already. But I thought I would share with you what this twenty year old girl looked like the day she left me. She spent the last two winters out in the cold uncovered and neglected. But the last time I gave her a serious cleaning I used Liquid Glass ( about 3 to 4 coats) and it held up very well. The only time I washed it was right before I sold her. It wasn’t a show winning shine, but for one wash in two years I think it looks pretty good. I guess if you take good care of the paint even a twenty year old paint job can surprise you.

What does she have?

Wiesco piston (over bore )

Balance shaft eliminator kit and timing kit combo

High volume oil pump

ARP Head stud set

Every thing has been Port and Polished

Cooling fan relay kit

Bosch Racing 500 HP Fuel pump.

Fuel Injector replacement connectors

Hybrid TurboT3/T4

Over the Valve Cover Pipe with TurboXS Type H Valve

2 Piece plumbing kit from Turbo to Intercooler

Boost Gauges

6 puck clutch kit(with less than 100 miles on it)

mandrel bent 2.5 downpipe

2.5 Exhaust System

High Flow Under Car Catalytic Converters ( in the back seat )

Front Gas drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors

Schneider racing camshaft ( description is 284-H 2.6 Dodge custom HYD. CAM )

Non-Jet Valve Head from Spain

Two injectors welded into the Y’s on the intake.

I have the control module and wiring for the injector setup but ran out of time to hook it up. It will come with the car.

The rims have been striped of paint and got the polish treatment.

Engine compartment has been painted to match the color of the car.

Polyurethane bushings

Eclipse Mass air sensor

88 or 89 ECU

Injectors from 88 or 89

Thanks everyone. This was my third Conquest and I had it for 8 to 9 years. The engine bay is all business. Not to pretty but a real workhorse. At its peak it was close to 500hp, but a few changes had to be made to keep it a reliable daily driver. At one point ( after launching the original engine into an early grave ) I was going to make it a show car, so I repainted the engine bay to match the car ( the original paint in there was a pink color. Not Good.) And at that time a 98 Corvette engine was going to be stuffed into her, but I decided it would be way to much work, time, and money. Now that I look back that probably would have been the way to go. To get the car the way I wanted it I had to get things made from all over the world. So that “time and money thing ended up being a big mistake on my part. But I guess I did have a one of a kind car that for around here no one could touch. Now I have a Kawasaki Z1000 that tames that need for speed I sometimes get.

Bitchen car :up

I used to have a 1990 Chrysler Conquest TSI. It had decent power for a stock 2.6 liter 4 cylinder. At the same time, the fuel milage was pretty good along with decent power. It started to burn oil at 40-50k miles though :chuckle:

The car itself, in my opinion, had horrible straight line stability. The dealer could never figure it out. I later figured out, after I sold it, that the stock chassis setup didn't allow for proper castor adjustment. Aftermarket castor plates would have allowed the steering knuckles to be adjusted further forward. The car had a boatload of grip though with it's high performance Michelin MXX Sport tires.

I would like to someday get another Conquest TSI and make a racecar out of it :up

:woot2:

Looks like Shetland Beige to me! Looks real clean.

I got rid of my Fiji Blue 88 Conquest and Eiger Silver 87 Starion last year. I will definitely have one again!

I had an "88 Conquest TSI, red with black leather interior. I had louvers on the back and side windows. I soooo miss that car...worst mistake to get rid of it. I would love to get my hands on another one some day.

Hey SHhhhh, nice cars you got there. It looks like I see alot of Conquest fans. I have my z1000 and a Land Rover Discovery II se for now, but I will get my 4th Quest soon or later.

After seeing all these pics of Quests, I had to dig mine out of an old album. Forgive the quality as these are scans of pics from almost 20 years ago.

That's my old winter-beater in the background. As you can guess, the Conquest was no good in the snow...had to have a beater living in MA.

I remember seeing one of those in our neighborhood when I was in high school. It looked really cool and I wondered who made it. I was surprised to find out it was a Chrysler/Mitsu product (before the Stealth came out I didn't really associate them with any sort of interesting performance products).

It looks great, especially for 20 years old!
