My 73 Beetle

Well, this is my project car. I recently got laid off from my full time job, so I have had some time to play with it here of late. It looked like this when I bought it...

Some friends of mine fixed it up in their garage for me. It was not a professional job by any means. My buddy painted it in one of the bays in his garage that he has a make shift paint booth set up in. I polished it today with M86 on the PC (Kevin Brown suggested I use his M105 method on this new, single stage paint, but substiute M86 in place of M105). It was painted about 90 days ago, so I folllowed the M86 with Chemical Guys EZ Creme Glaze, and topped with Souveran. Here it is completed:

Thank you for those memories! Very nice job! You've got yourself a real gem there! Congratulations! (I didn't go overboard with my use of exclamation marks, did I? :lol)

That looks great!

Do you have a picture of the Meguiar's and/or Zaino stickers on the Element?

Thanks for all the compliments guys. I have really enjoyed messing with, and driving this little car in the period that I have had it. It is pretty fun to drive. Going to take it to a few cruise ins this spring and summer.

OTG - the Element is out of comission for a while (long story).

Neat car! Interesting NC plate too, would you mind giving some details to that?

The law in NC states that if the car is 35 years or older, you can display a NC plate from the model year of the car (I bought that one on Craigslist). However, you have to keep the actual plate that is registered to the car in the car at all times. If I were to get pulled over by the police for anything, I would have to provide the plate that is registered to the car to the officer.

Oh thats intesesting, I thought it would have been like the black and whte plates in delaware. There you buy and old old vehicle that has the plates, then transfer the plates to your current car. Probably the only time you'll see a car worth 50 bucks go for a few thousand.
