Here's my 280 sl after a full detail. Wash, paint cleaner, clay, wax.

Thanks.... it's not original paint but it is at least 7 years old.



It has been a weekend driver since it was painted by the previous owner so it hasn't been exposed to the elements very often.



It was sitting in a my mechanic's shop for some restoration work since December. So it has 5 months of repair-shop dirt and grime on it.



My procedure was first to wash and dry it with Griot's car wash. Then I used Griot's "Paint Prep" to clean off any old wax or dirt that it picked up. Then I clayed it (again, with Griot's clay).



Finally, I used Griot's Best of Show wax. Then I did the windows, chrome, tires, and used some stainless steel cleaner for the stainless steel wheel covers.



It looks great now .... but boy am I tired.



As you can tell, I really like Griot's products. They are expensive but I find them to be good quality. I haven't experimented much since I started using them because I like the results.
 
The car looks great. You should add some more flattering pictures. It's not often we get to admire these machines!
