Musty smell

Since rain and snow are upon us all for a few months, I was wondering if you tried 303 on your wiper blades to keep them from chattering and squealing. I know 303 sells a special "towelette" for wiper blades, is it just 303 like we use for our vinyl and rubber? I hate when my wipers start chattering and squealing:(
 
On a related note, who has experience with windshield washer additives? Anyone have experience with the P21S or any other additive?



I don't use the squirter much because I keep my car clean, but every once in a while a quick squirt is necessary and I don't want to be harming any trim or wax the fluid gets on.
 
If you wipers are skipping and chattering try claying your windsheild. This will help smooth out the surface and should make them work smoother. :up :up
 
I found the additive to make a sudsy soapy mess that leaves a film all over the roof and wherever it lands. I guess it help a bit with bugs, but not worth the mess it makes. I have 3/4 of a bottle left if anyone wants it, but I don't recommend it.

The 303 wiper kit is just 303 on a paper cloth....like a "Wet Nap". I did use it and it makes the rubber a bit smoother over the windshield, but I'm not sure if it caused a little smearing at first. Maybe I just didn't wipe it off well enough....

That's the info I was looking for. I will try some 303 from the bottle and wipe the blades off well. Then it will probably stop raining in LA:rolleyes:
 
I bought some of the 303 wiper towels, although I really like the protectent on the vinal, I didn't think the wiper towels did a darn thing.

Is there a certian way you need to apply it so that it wont smear and wipe off? I've tried this myself and it seems that it just washed away when it rained....so im thinking that mabey i did it wrong.

[/b]</blockquote>If I'm correct in assuming you are talking about the 303 wiper treatment wipe, perhaps the product didn't penetrate enough. Try cleaning the wiper blade with IPA (Isopropyl Alcohol) and an old cloth to remove any old junk from there.

After you rub it dry and black stops coming off of the blade, wipe on the 303 and let it sit for a few mins without resting it on your windshield. Then just wipe excess off and you should be good to go.

You may want to make sure your blade doesn't have a special coating that the IPA would remove.
 
speaking of rubber... some of my rubber exterior trims (the sealers around the doors) have begun to deteriorate to a point where i would rub it with a white towel and the towel will get slightly black. would cleaning it with rubbing alcohol fix this problem? followed by a coat of 303?

I am not a chemist but I would think that IPA could dry out rubber. What you want to do is keep it soft and pliable. I know we all avoid silicone containing materials for our dash and tires but for seals around the door, you can use a silicone pump spray. I have a plastic bottle and I use it for all the rubber parts of my scuba diving gear, it keeps them from drying out and cracking. If you don't want to try silicone, I think 303 will also work.
 
The black is oxidized Rubber. The Alcohol will remove this oxidized rubber. After it dries I would wipe with wet towel then apply 303 or like.



Apply the 303 or like to all rubber seals to keep them from oxidizing in the future.

I had a musty/mold smell in my '06 GTP when I bought about 18 months ago. I put in a new cabin air filter and WOW! Smell gone.

Here's the old and new C.A. Filter... that thing is NASTY! (And smelled like a mold factory!)
