I'm glad I've got my car back,

for the duration of the repair the dealer gave me some beater-car.

Just for getting some anger out of my system I detailed that little s*cker last weekend : complete vacuum, cleaned the windows(there was a film on them, from smokers I guess), washed the car

put on some cleaner-wax

polished with meguiars swirl & scratch reducer,by hand:mad:

that realy got the anger out of me , impossible to do that correct by hand , but it improved the looks alot.

finaly threw on a coat of Meguiars gold class paste wax.

Dressed the tires with TW tire-gel

and put Armor-all on on outside trim

Dealer was so impressed I got the loaner for free:)

Now for my MPV:

at the dealers I inspected the car and aside from alot of white dust inside the car everything looked great.

The car looked like freshly washed, I asked and the answer was that he took it to a touchless carwash.

Once home it took me 2 straight hours to get all that white dust out of the inside: vacuum, with plastic cleaner and MF's, glass-cleaner.Then dressed the whole thing.Looks perfect again.

This morning I could see the car under bright light at a gasstation:

swirls gallore:eek:

And the passengers door can not be opened from the inside:mad:

For the next 2 months I can not touch the repainted parts (about 1/5 of the car!!!)so I will have a major spring clean-up to do.Lucky for me the car was freshly Z'd 2 days before the crunch,so that will have protection.

Sorry for the long post, got to get this out of my system

feel better now

That's great you got your van back! I think all of us Autopian's could really tell you missed it. :)

BTW: I think thats funny that you detailed the loaner and in-turn... recieved it for free!

Anyway, condrats... and happy detailing. :wavey

Glad you got the MPV back too. That was a neat story about the loaner - I'll have to remember that just in case someday. Good luck with getting the passenger's door fixed. :)

I was also going to suggest that the "door cann't be opened from the inside" might be the child safety locks. Which would be pretty embarassing.

I too got a loaner car (Monday) and just did the exterior today. I think it's ok to detail a rental/loaner since you have to live in it... unless you rent/loan it just for that purpose!

Interior:

Vacuum

Bissel the interior fabrics

Meg. Extra cleaner the inside

303 on the plastic

Exterior:

Degunk engine compartment

De-tar (big one!)

Wash

Mother's Back to Black on all the black parts.

It's a 99 but being a loaner, it's life has not been easy. It's rather beat up, but it looks pretty good now and it still needs a clay VERY BAD. But I'll stop here.

I was thinking:

maybe that's the way to preach the Gospel:

just let us show them (dealers) how it's supposed to be done:D
