Here's my situiation: saving for porter cable (and trying to befriend a girl at lowe's ... discount baby!) but in the meantime, i want to have more products to play with. I have the 1Z Ultra, Paint, and Metallic polishes as well as Glanz Wax, and several paste carnaubas. I'm looking at going Meguiars or going ClearKote/Poorboy's
My Car: '92 BMW 325is
Her Paint: much better after i tackled it with the ultra and paint polish (2x in some spots) but after not quite 2 weeks, there are some light-medium swirls. And some other imperfections all over. After my 1Z treatment, i can't feel all but 1 or 2 scratches with my fingernail. Nothing too major ... no wetsanding or anything of the sort.
The plot thickens: i have no garage and have to resort to working outside in the elements ... even if i wake up at the crack of dawn to escape the burning sun, i still have to work w/ a semi-hot car. I know its not good ... but that's what i got.
I like the fact the VM/EX-P is very sun-friendly, but i'm worried that it will not be strong enough. Could i go DACP by hand (for now) prior to that combo?
Or maybe DACP with the Speed Glaze? with some #9 and NXT or #20 or #26?
I'm tempted to go Klasse AIO/SG and go all out topping w/ s100, but i would like to get it all prepared first. The Bimmer's paint is a beautiful (yet 12 yo) Metallic Blue and i would desperately like to bring out the metallic flake. IF i can do that, i'd live with topping with S100 every week or two.
any suggestions? i've leaned so much about detailing, but recognize that i don't know enough yet to eye a car and decide what is best ...
thanks
alex
