motorcycle voyage in detailing

I detailed my father's FJ1200 last night, and while he keeps it clean, I think this is the first serious detail it's seen. The paint came out great, and I still need to get to the more detailed areas but I'm at a loss at what to do with the exhaust.



He told me the exhaust was a 'black chrome' (I'm pretty certain is the original exhaust) although it's not a tinted chrome it is really dark. And I'm wondering if I can treat it the same as typical chrome... if so I'll give lemon pledge a try. Also there are some light scuffs from when he took a spill on it a little over a year ago, is there some product I can use to buff them out.

Scuff marks?...how deep (does fingernail get caught in them?

As far as shine..all I have used for a few years on pipes is The Bom.
 
The scuffs are minimal, if they were on paint I'd imagine that I could get them out with a pc, but since I've never worked with chrome, let alone a surface that gets extremely hot, and I wasn't sure if I had any options to at least minimize the appearance.
 
i've used simichrome and that stuff is amazing. i don't have chrome on my current bikes, but if i did i'd use that.
 
Yamaha black chrome should be cleaned with a non-abrasive cleaner wax. I've had good luck with Mothers. The black chrome can be ruined in short order with most products. Have worked in Yamaha shops for years, since the days of the midnight specials.

nice bike, 5k is a bit much for 93 though (but I see it was sold in 2000, so not bad), what is the displacment? what did u do to detail it?



I plan on surprising my brother by detailing his swirled up black 2003 cbr 600RR.
