Motorcycle Layup

I have a motor cycle that I will have to clean up tomorrow.. Its a harley road king 100th anniversery. LOTS OF CHROME... I was curious what do I do on all the chrome on the bike..

1) To clean (not too dirty)

2) To protect (going to be laid up for a few years (long story)) I will have a chance to keep it up and its also going to be in a A/C controlled heated basement.

I have some collinite 885.. where should I be using this?

Anyone heard of or used some other product called Sheila Shine?

Clean with S100 Polishing Soap

Protect with whatever sealant you are currently using.

If it's going to be laid up for a few YEARS I would concentrate on preping the inside of the engine (fluids) for a such a long period of inactivity. The paint will survive with a good cleaning and a cover or tarp of somekind thrown over it to keep the dirt/dust off.

Hope your long story doesn't involve a cavity search and parole board LOL.......Im kidding!!

What should be done about the fluids.. I have been told hit the starter for a few secs 3-4 times once a month to get oil thru. It will also be put on blocks..

No, it's better to remove the spark plugs and spray some fogging oil in there. Then leave it alone.

Oh, and drain the fuel tank and spray fogging oil in there too.

For the chrome, don't use carnauba wax as it is slightly acidic.

The bike is laid up... And I have what is going to be forever to work on it... My question is its on blocks to get off the wheels. But what should I use on them to clean them (white walls) then protect and how often?

Pictures will arrive this weekend when I make it back over there
