Mothers

Have done a search on this surprisingly without success.

I have some Mothers products as follows.

California Gold car wash

Carnuba cleaner wax

Reflections polish

Duration tyre dressing

Clearcoat wheel polish

I've used some as follows.

CG car wash - very nice indeed. Smells like the old red everlasting gobstoppers and sheets off better IMO than Megs GC & Sonax gloss (that might be due to the Collinite wax I had on there)

Duration - better than Megs Endurance. Applied 2 coats as directed. Nice satin gloss (if that makes sense - not glossy but not satin, somwhere in between) and I've driven around 150 miles in torrential rain plus car's sat on driveway since Saturday pm when I washed it so thunbs up so far

Wheel polish - hard one, this. My wheels are in good condition (the only damage being from a dumb tyre fitter & 1 kerb scuff - oops!) so hard to say whether it did any good. I followed up with AG SR just to keep the crud off em.

I'd be interested in autopian's views on these products, good or bad so please let me know as I've not seen a lot of referenceto Mothers here before.

I'd be really interested to hear how people rate Mothers against Megs CONSUMER range and Autoglym but the above link's a good start for me.

I am sure many will disagree with me here since Meguiar's seems to be the favorite but between the two I choose Mothers. I used to use Meguiar's all the time until I met this guy who used Mothers and recommended it. So I tried it and loved it. Seemed to last longer than Meguiar's and went on and off much cleaner, where Meguiar's always left oily smears behind. But that was back when I did it all by hand and thought that those were my only two options. Now I know better and I have found Poorboy's as my new favorite.

I have tried most of both, I seem to have a lot better luck with Mothers products.

Mothers is a lot better in helping you if you have to call with a question and that means a lot to me.

Agreed. Mothers products in general are easier to use and have better over-all better performance when compared to Meguiars. And yes, I prefer their customer service also.

I too like many of their products. Their product line is a real sleeper - their stuff always seems to overdeliver on performance.

I use their Cleacoat Wheel Polish and really like it. I'm using it on new wheels so all I really need is protection. After several washes the protection (beading) is still holding up well. I'm using it instead of AIO on wheels.

I really like Preserves dressing but I can't find it anywhere (grrrrrr....) so all I have is a sample Forrest gave out at the Autopia GTG and once that's gone, I'm back to other brands. Preserves is right up there with my fave Eagle One dressings.

What I like about Carnauba Cleaner Wax, Reflections, and the shampoo is that they're easy to find nationwide and perform very well, so they're great products to recommend to people who do not want to mail order boutique products and would rather use something they can get at a local parts store.

In the consumer product lines, Mothers and Megiuar's are very competitive, with Mother's being easier to use, IMO. In the professional range, Meguiar's has such an overwhelming range of products that it is almost impossible to compare them as product lines.

I have had VERY good results with Mother's, and often recommend it to people as a no-hassle, high quality product.

Mothers Clay Bar is the best one I have used. I also like the Clear Coat Wheel Polish.

Overall I prefer Mothers consumer line over Megs with the exception of Gold Class Car Wash, but I prefer Megs Pro products over their consumer stuff and Mothers.

I've yet to have a bad experience with Mother's products. Everything I try I've been happy with. I've used the Clay bar, alum polish, sealer and glaze, and lastly the Reflections polish.

I've been extremely pleased with Mother's reflections. Easy on- easy off (just as easy as S100, IMO), but lasts a decently long time. I first tried it on my wifes car (saab 9-3), then my daily driver (alfa 164), and finally started using it on my Ferrari 308 GT4. The paint on the ferrari is not the best (almost 30 years old), and the reflections polish does alot towards making it look better.

I've tried lots of other waxes and sealants, but for looks, ease of use, price, and durability, I love the Mothers Reflections.
