Mothers Reflections VS meg's NXT?

Reflections looks deeper in darks

Would Reflections on black be something comparable to NXT with Souveran topper? If so, I'll have to give it a go.

Thanks guys!

Lux, I would love to tell you that reflections in black would be comparable to NXT topped with Souveran, but that would be downright lying. Not going to happen. The only thing that looks deeper than a good carnauba on black is a better carnauba, no question here, and souveran is at the top of the food chain. Meguiars #26 is one of the closest to Souveran, and others report CMW , trade secret, victoria wax and pink close (I haven't tried the last 4 of them, so I can't comment) The closest to a carnauba in depth a sealant can get is usualy in blends. Zaino Z2 pro, UPP, NXT and reflections advanced car wax are very deep for pure sealants, but you can see the difference if you compare them with a blend (EX, reflections top coat and turtle ultra) They are not there yet. And blends are still short of the pure carnaubas.... But they are getting closer. I am personally a carnauba guy, but those new sealants and blends are making a dent in my position. How about reflections car wax, then reflections top coat and souveran as topper?

I also like NXT, I like it a lot but the fact that it tanks after a wash makes me mad. I think the phrase afraid of a bath is accurate, they withstand heat and dust for weeks and don't complain. Wash them and see the nice finish gone. I remember a case when I applied nanowax to a friend's car. Just a quickie as he was in a hurry. 5 weeks later I saw the car (light dust) so I just blew some of the dust and touched the paint. Very slick. I told my friend "good to see you reapplied the wax" His answers was "I haven't even washed it again as it is not dirty......" Guess what happened after we washed the car... the nanowax got afraid of the bath.

NXT will beat reflections when more cleaning power is needed. Reflections shines in perfect or almost perfect paint. "Good condition" and below requires NXT or stronger. I am in fact surprised of how mild the cleaners in reflections 2005 are. I would be surprised if they removed anything.

josephclemente, how do notice the finish of NXT after the washes? Can you compare?

after washing the pickup I noticed a drop off in the slickness of NXT(I always assumed it was the TW gold car wash leaving a sheeting film)-however viewing down the side of the vehicle I can still see some gloss. It isn't quite as glossy as a fresh application but IMO some NXT is still there. Are you guys assuming that when the slickness is gone the protection has been washed away as well?

Im no expert on waxes but I have used many. I like the way NXT looks and the ease but it wont stand up to more than 1 or 2 washes. Reflections is at least as easy to use, if not more, and is more durable. I also agree that Reflections cleaners are almost non existant where NXT at least has pretty good bite. I really compare NXT to FX more than Reflections. FX is still the easiest of all of them to use.

I'm assuming that when both water and dirt cling tenaciously to panels, there's nothing left (nothing worth my while, anyway). That's what happened to me; water didn't bead or sheet, it just laid there. Not only was the slickness gone, the dirt was sticking to the car like it never has with any other LSP. It made washing a real pain-in-the-backside . . .

Users seem to have wildly varying experiences with NXT, so maybe NXT doesn't do well on my paint, or in my environment. Or maybe the phase of the moon was wrong when I applied it. :nixweiss

I'm not trying to fan flames here I was just asking for clarification regarding how various people are defining durability-I'm baffled by the varying claims of durability for NXT from 2 weeks to 3 or more months. In my experience it rain beads for roughly 3 months on GM vehicles. I have noticed that the initial gloss fades quicker than other products tho.

Alex, thanks for the feedback.

I've been using NXT for awhile now and I'm still not sure how long it lasts. I think the look right after application is absolutely beautiful. But after a wash I think the fillers go away and you're left with something that is still shiny, but not that velvet smooth shine...for lack of a better word.

Is it still protecting? Who knows. Honestly, I don't think I care since it's pretty easy to wax the car once a month. But washing the car every week means that I have one week of awesome shine and 3 weeks of less awesome shine.

Another thing that I don't really like is that bug stains seem to not come off as easy as I think they should. This lack of slickness bothers me a little since my car is a daily driver and bug detail is almost an everyday routine. However, it's been a while since I've used a different wax so I might just be imagining things.

I'm gonna give Reflections a go this weekend. Deep velvety shine and supreme slickness are my two main wants. Longevity of anything over a month is just a bonus.
