Mothers products

You guys made me do it. :) I went out to my local auto parts store and purchased a bottle of Mother's FX Tire Shine 24 oz spray for $6 and change out the door.

Like Intercooled said, the FX tire shine has a nice gloss. A little more than I'm used to but it looks good. I too "took out my applicator and spread the product over the tire and spread real smooth and evenly". A little goes a long way and application was easy as A-B-C. :D

This is one of the OTC product that deserves "Highly Recommended" rating. :up

It is good enough to be on my list of detailing arsenal.

With Aloha,

Ranney :)

I like the Top Coat, adds more depth, but doesnt' seem to change the look.

I also have Synwax and PowerWax, but haven't really tried them (I have way too many LSP and too little time). If anyone wants to trade, or buy some samples of either, PM me.

Mothers products before the new line up this year IMO was pretty poor, back to black doesn't have the power of clearkote or VLRP and would burn off in a week and the paint products were nothing outstanding

However now their new line up looks like being worthy of autopian status. Not necessarily as good as 1Z, Klasse, Zaino, 4 star, Collinite wax, autogeek DP, Wolfgang and pinnacle though

Still have many brands including soft99, lahega and gelson to test but from the opinions of some using them, it's also killer stuff.

As good as the above, sometimes better...

IMO the FX tire shine is a great bang for the buck product, the Topcoat is easily in my top 3 for looks-smooth,warm gloss with good depth and easy 3 month durability. My other 2 favorites are Tropicare XP which is high gloss with a wetter look than Topcoat and Collinite 845 for winter and wheel use.

I looked at my wheels today after using the PowerBall yesterday with some AIO. I'm just so amazed at how well it worked and how fast it did it! Plus the FX Tire Shine looks just perfect for my taste. I'd have to say that the power ball is NO hype. It far exceeded my expectations! :xyxthumbs :woohoo:

From what I saw another site, Mothers is coming out with some new detailing tool products Jan 1, 2006. among them are a smaller power ball and a power ball MD, which will be more abrasive for fixing scratches and such. They also will have an extension rod for the powerballs to reach in hard to get areas and to keep the drill further away from the work.

I disagree. The reflections paint trio is every bit as good as ANY boutique LSP, if not better.

FX Synwax - Maybe the most reflective synthetic available (yes, it is a pure sealant) In some situtations it can be too shiny depending in your taste, and hides flake in metallic paint. For a pure synthetic, durability should be better than the 8-12 weeks it lasts.

Reflections advanced car wax - If it lasted more than 10 weeks, this would be my favorite LSP. The closest a pure synthetic has come to carnauba look. Personally, I see no point in the mild cleaners it has as top coat is layerable. Mothers should make its cleaners stronger as you will not get the best if the paint is not at least in very good condition.

Reflections top coat - What Poorboys EX should be.... easy to aply and remove, handsome look. Synthetic and carnauba blend. No cleaners! :)

FX tire shine - As many others mention, this is a keeper. Very nice gloss, no sling, nice application, decent durability. Water based.

Reflections tire care - If you like FX tire, make the effort and get reflections tire care, you will love it. In my perception, it leaves the best looking tires of any product available. Black deep matte, new rubber look. Also, my nose likes its smell the most of any detailing product, and that includes LSPs.... Yes, a gel will last longer, but no tire spray will outlast it.

FX and reflections spray waxes. FX spray wax applies like a quick detailer, yet looks and feels like full blown Synwax. Reflections applies like NXT booster, and based on the slickness, durability, look, thickness and lack of smell I assume this is just "dumbed down" top coat or advanced car wax. Both of the spray waxes are excellent.

Mothers powerpolish: Do you want an easy and effective polish? This is it. OCP and ZPC got the attention for being "variable diminishing". Mothers PP behaves the same, is effective with the PC and doesn't dust. Leaves very nice gloss.

If you haven't tried them, please do so. You will not spend a lot. Whoever that has FX synwax unused, use it please. FX made me give away my EX-P+..... :nixweiss

How would FXsynwax compare to Zaino??

Synwax reminds me a lot of Z5 in appearance. However, as much as I like Synwax, it doesn't have the durability of Zaino. For me, that's not a problem, as I use the Reflections Top Coat and FX Spray Wax to keep the protection going.

Asking this question is like opening Pandora's box. Every detailer has certain preferences, and some factors that he/she appreciates more than others.

The Z will outlast Synwax easily, not even a contest. However, FX is one of the most durable products you can get retail. Overall, I would pick FX over the Z. [flamesuit on]It is much easier to apply and remove, looks at least as shiny and reflective, it is very slick when just applied, smell great and has decent durability[flamesuit off] I alread explained before that a product that is easy to remove has fast drying time, needs no mix, leaves no streaks and removes as easy if applied thin or in blobs, or if removed with cotton or MF..... Yes, FX durability is not in the same league as the Z, but how many of the other very hyped "Z-killers" delivered on this one? EX-P didn't, UPP didn't. In fact, FX is more durable than those 2. Slickness? Does it matter if one of those last 2 is the slickest if after just one wash the slickness goes away? FX slickness doesn't suffer as much in the first wash.

All in all, I wish FX had been available sooner. I could have saved some money :bawling:

Yes I'm a big Zaino Guy. But in the summer months when I'm waxing every 3-5 weeks anyhow maybe Fx wil fit the bill. Sounds promiseing and worth a try. Then maybe back to Z in the fall for the winter durability.

Nice to see you posting here again, Ranney...you've been missed. :D

I haven't tried the FX Tire Shine but have tried several of the rest of Mothers new line-up. They've become an OTC boutique carcare range. What's the chances of you stocking them in your shop? ;) ;)

Intercooled-I'd suggest trying TopCoat during the summer months- I like the warmth without being to shiny and it beads for a least 3 months
