Has anyone compared Mothers Phase 3 paste wax and liquid for

shine and durability? I have happily used Phase 3 liqiud for many years but never the paste. Just wondering if the paste wax blows away the liquid.

Maybe Forrest can help.

thx

Never tried it but assume it would smoke it for longevity...Liquids contain more emulsified oils, allowing easier distribution, and removal, which in turn cuts down on its durability...Downfalls would be application and removal...A tad more difficult, but probably worth it.....

Liquids are for the less enthusiastic detailers, where pastes' are for those expecting more ! (May get trashed for that statement, but oh well !!)

Hmm, I don't use either, but I remember reading about this subject a few months ago. Apparently the paste gives a lot better durability and I was surprised to read that DavidB also liked it. Maybe try a search for "mothers paste" or something?

i have used both. I love the paste on my red car. it leaves a darker, richer shine. The paste also last longer then the liquid.....the only downfall to the paste is its a lot harder to get off. to the question "does the paste blow away the liquid"...............YES

I've used Mother paste for years and find it easy to use. If you apply it THICK it is difficult to get off and is a waste of wax. If you use a light coat it comes right off. It take me roughly 30 min to wax the CL. I live in the desert and it gets waxed every 6 weeks.

I prefer paste over liquid. I find it actaully easier to remove, since it's easier for me to control paste and apply thin coats.

Make sure the product leaves a haze, not turns the paint white. White means it's too thick.

Also, I dampen the applicator with an instant detailer (our Showtime) instead of water - it helps the paste glide easier, and makes for thinner coats.

The best reason for paste, though, is economy. The average consumer gets 3 coats out of a 16 ounce bottle. I'd guess the average autopian gets 5-7. With paste, if you can't get 25+ applications from a can, you're doing something wrong.

BTW, the chemist tell me there's no difference in longevity between paste and liquid, but then, he voted for Govenor Gray.......

I do not use Mother's, but my brother has and he loved the paste. I also use paste exclusively. Its not messy, it goes on evenly and you get way more for your $.

Wow forrest, this scares me! People use that much??

3 coats from a 16 ounce bottle seems a bit excessive. I was applying another liquid product yesterday nad used 1/5 of an ounce and then I was spreading it on thick/generously.

If you send a bottle over, I gurantee you I can make more than 5-7 coats from a bottle. Wait, looks over shoulder, haha got no room for it, I do have some room to get some Mother's Sealer and glaze though. Looks like a trip to Pep Boys and see what everyone is raving about.
