Mosted LOVED step in detailing??

When I worked in Minneapolis, it would be during the delivery back to the client. I worked on a lot of nice cars and it was always nice getting looks/waves/comments from pedestrians on the road. Getting waves and nods from other Porsche drivers while in a clients Porsche is fun.

I got a ridiculous wave and stare from an older M5 owner while delivering one... kinda a "Why is a young punk like you driving a car like me?" Another time, after picking up then immediately returning a weekly clients Porsche because of rain, I received a $10 tip "for the trouble." He tipped me again the next day after the detail as well. I miss most of my old clients. :(

First foam step (SIP) with a rotary on 3-steps. The haze and wool marks just disappear before your eyes, it's like final polishing on steroids.

That, and watching Opti-seal cure with a cold beer. It goes from grabby and mediocre looking to slick and wet in 20 minutes or so. Clients love that :).

I have to say its handing the keys over to the customer after they are very happy. Then handing over the $$$ to the woman and seeing her smile LOL.

LEARNING. I don't think you should ever stop, it's what separates "us" from "them".getting paid to always trying new products and combos chasing down the elusive perfect finish.then the affirmation of a job well done a client gives you by the look on their face.(and the opening of the pocketbook:p).and , not having to work a day in your life but getting paid to indulge your obsession.

my favorite is when you do a good job, and the owner of the car says your the only one allowed to touch his car... EVER!

I like the relaxing time on the couch afterward while drinking a coke and having a snack. I use the time to reflect back on my accomplishment while basking in my self gratification since I was able to turn filth into something the customer is now proud of. And this is all because I've done something that I’m passionate about AND on top of that it adds extra cash to my stash! :woot:

As far as the actual step during the detail it's removing the product to reveal the great looking surface and having my fiancée say… dang it looks wet. ;)

aside from getting paid, during the detail it's thinking about the final result and how impressed the client and people in click & brag are going to be with the detail
