Most durable sealant or wax

I am looking for the most durable sealant or wax.

This is for my winter car, which mean I really don't care about the looks, all I care about is protection so I won't have to re-wax or re-seal during winter.

Any ideas?

Welcome to Autopia!

Wax- Most will say one of the Collinite waxes; likely 467S

Sealant- Too many...I'm sure there are several that are very comparable in terms of durability.

Collinite 476 will get you through the winter. As for sealants, Duragloss and Zaino are probably the most durable.

Anyone knows about Meguiars M21 Synthetic Sealant, I've hear its a good sealant to as well as NXT2.0?

The NXT 2.0 will only last you through about 2 washes before it's gone.

I've tested out a few and the Zaino seems to last the longest IMO.

+3. My car sits outside all winter in Alaska. I rely on 476s and am very pleased with the protection. And I think the looks are fine too. I'll do my winter detail in September (3 coats) and it will last me until I can wax again in April.

I did a double coat of FK sealant and double coat of FK 1000 high temp wax and it lasted a good 3 months or more. car sat outside all winter did this in late oct thur middle of nov. last year.

I've always used Zaino for winters. 3 layers of Z5 or Z2 Pro (ZFX'd) and didn't have a problem with bi-weekly washes and vehicles that sat outside.

476 is good stuff; many use it here on top of a sealant as a sacrificial layer.

I still have not found anything that will outlast 845. One application of 845 got me through the entire NE winter last year..

As mentioned, the Collinite lineup is very durable. Personally, I've found Duragloss to be a little longer lasting (501 + 601 + 105 is a bulletproof process).

Klasse SG is VERY durable, I would say it is even more durable than Collinite but not by much. Not many people use SG since Collinite and Duragloss are much easier to use with nearly the same results.

I find that a bit doubtful. I recently (June 18th) applied 2 coats of 845 to my car. The hood has almost stopped beading after 2 months and the rest of the car still "beads" so to speak, but it is nowhere near the razor sharp beads that formed after my initial application. Not to mention that we are in the middle of summer here in Chicago and the car gets washed about once every 2 weeks or so. I will be trying Duragloss in a few weeks and hope that it holds up a bit better.

501, their MARINE POLISH?

alot of people report having varying results with IW845, but so far so good with my application on my car. I have also had great results with UPGP so far going strong at 4 months on a customers car....

The summer season, and the fact that you washed every two weeks probably contributed to your Collinite not lasting that long.

Keep in mind, I applied the 845 for the single reason that I KNEW that I was not going to be washing my car during the winter months and wanted something I knew could protect it for four or so months. Granted, the beading at the end of the four months was not razor sharp, but still none the less it was being protected.

If you do a search for Collinite you will find more cases of Collinite's long lasting durability. :up

I researched it prior to purchase, which is how I know it is "supposed" to last long. Perhaps the touchless car wash I occasionally take my car to had something to do with my application not lasting as long, but if a wax claims to be long lasting I expect it to act as such even with repeated washings.

Perhaps, those touchless washes can be pretty hard on LSP's.
