most aggressive compound w/ PC

has anyone used #85 (diamond cut) compound with a PC?

the medium cut (#4) and 3M's fine cut compound -both remove 1200 grade scratches - dont do the job! and i need something more aggressive.

i actually need a rotary w/ some wool, but thats for another time down the road!!!

I wouldn't compound with a PC, doesn't build up enough heat to work. For polishing after a 1200 grit color sanding I would only use a rotary but a foam pad will work as long as it's a nice stiff pad with a good medium grit polish (don't use some heavy compound with a wool pad, that's more for what the 1200 grit color sanding did, you're ready for the next step). The other choice is to sand the 1200 grit marks with 1500 and then 2000 grit, then a PC can easily handle it with Malco Rejuvenator, 3M FPII or Meg's #83.

3M Perfect it III and II Rubbing Compounds on a cutting pad can remove some severe defects with a PC.

You just answered your own question.

If DACP doesn't get it with your PC, you are look at polishing with the rotary IMO.

Don't agree. 3M Finesse It II Machine Polish will remove more than DACP with a PC and 3M Perfect It II and III Rubbing Compounds will remove even more. They leave a really nice finish that requires very little follow up polishing.

I had very good luck removing 2000 grit sanding scratches with a cuttiing pad on a pc and 3M Finesse It II. I followed up with DACP and a polishng pad.

Yep, FI II is more aggressive than DACP.

i'm going to look for 3m finesse it tomorrow as I just DACPed half my car and am happy with the results but i'm sure the end product will be alot better if the harder scratches were gone (3m).
