More Clearkote Goodies

After reading the posts about Clearkote products by Scottwax and others and the Show Special by DomZ I decided to order my own Show Special by phone. It arrived today, took 2 weeks to get from TX to MI via UPS, weather must have been a factor. I got a gallon of Quik Shine, a quart spray bottle, pint of Moose Wax and Vanilla Moose, pint of Vinyl/Rubber/Leather treatment, pint of Car Wash, 4 0z Metal Polish, and a small bottle of Lens Cleaner all for $68 shipped. It was very well packed, each bottle was wrapped in bubble wrap and placed in a sturdy box filled with more bubble wrap and styrofoam peanuts, didn't spill a drop.

I had to run out to the garage as soon as I got it and try it out on a few areas on my clean cars. Everything looks good, Moose and Vanilla Moose go on easy and come off easy and leave a good shine with no residue just like others have said. I particularly liked the metal polish, have some polished billet aluminum on my 67 Mustang and the polish really brought the shine back with little effort. VRL treatment looked good and Quik Shine is already well known on this forum. Hopefully I'll get to do a whole car soon as it got ito the 30's today and is supposed to get to the 40's Thursday and Friday, would like to get the salt washed off my daily drivers.

So, another vote for Clearkote products from me, it will fill in some gaps in my car wax arsenal. Besides, with a name like Moose Wax how can you not like it?:D
 
Man, that package sounds tempting - basically you get everything you listed (shipped in the US) for only $30 more than what a gallon of QS costs.
 
I just got my show special package of clearkote lastnight. Wanted to try it out but all we are having in north alabama is nothing but rain. The temp is around 55-65 but is pouring like cats and dogs, man I'm getting sick and tired of this stupid rain. It should clear up sometime this weekend and I can't wait to try my new product out.
 
I believe it is carnauba based because both the Vanilla Moose and Moose Wax containers say they contain petroleum distilates as do several other carnauba waxes that I have. The instructions say to apply about every 90 days.



Wow, it got to 44 today, my Escort daily driver is salt-free! It's really not bad washing a small car in that temp, there was not much wind which helped.



I am still impressed with the metal polish, my aluminum parts were brought back to a just-buffed state of brilliance with minimal effort. Worked nice on my polished brass radiator tank too.:)
 
Moose Wax is a petroleum based wax and contains no carnuba. I'm not sure exactly what the ingredient make-up is, but the stuff leaves a great shine. It will bead for 90 days, too and it is very slick like S100 is. In fact, when I detailed a limo the other day, I had a hard time putting the car cover back on because it kept sliding off the hood of the car.



BTW, I've used it on not only my own car, but on customer's cars up to an including the Bentley with no worries that the make up of the wax seems a bit unconventional.
 
I guess that explains the strange description of the stuff F 355 gave of it when he got his:

Most liquid waxes are kinda creamy/milky emulsions as far as I know. You know what that description reminds me of? Old fashioned peanut butter. The kind that's suspended in oil and acts similarly to this in the jar. Not to imply that it is sitting in oil of course. ;)
 
Have you ever used it 4DSC ? Is it smelly like most petroleum based stuff ? Im real leary about those products, we all know what "petroleum" removes.....Im worried its petroleum benefits may outway its protective qualities.....
 
No, sorry I haven't used it - I'm just terribly interested! :p The "petroleum distillates" ingredient doesn't bother me since this is a cleaner wax anyway and polishes commonly have this ingredient in them.
 
I got a question, when you shake up the moose wax and pour it out onto the pad is the brown stuff suppose to come out along with the clear liquid or just the clear liquid by it's self? Like 4DSC said most of the wax I have seen is usually creamy and milky. Oh can anyone tell me what DACP stands for?
 
When I first got it the bottle it looked like one of those jars you had in a high school science class with a frog suspended in formaldehyde...remember those? The product seemed to have seperated. However, it seems OK now.



When the prouct was originally made a young lady said it looks like "Mousse"...you know like chocolate mousse....hence the name, which somehow got changed to Moose..



Yes, lots of petro...smells like diesel fuel but is paint fiendly. Will remove anything under it (chemically) so little elbow grease required.
 
Christiaan now that I got the acronyms saved in favorites I wont have to ask what things mean anymore. Which would be better for removing swirls and scratches #9 or DACP or both together?

DACP is more aggressive than #9, so if you have deep swirls or scratches that #9 can't remove, then go with DACP. I normally follow DACP with Swirl Free Polish (the BSP version of #9).
