Mold on Foam pads

How do I get rid of mold on my foam pads? For some reason when I opened the individual ziploc bags that my pads where in they were full of black mold. Are these pads toast? Any help or suggestions to salvage these? Anyway, I just placed a new order at Autogeek today, but I sure don't want to throw away these pads.:grrr

I am no expert on mold, but I would just try to wash them with dawn or something and if they look fine, use them. I store my pads in a plastic container, which I don't seal completely. Be sure to let them dry completely after you was them, they might feel dry, but it can take days to air dry them 100%

I just finished an experiment by soaking them in a 10% bleach solution for a couple of hours and the mold is now gone. I rinsed them and then washed them with DP Polishing Pad Rejuvenator. I am now drying them near the fireplace. Hope this works!

Good call on mild bleach. I had the same happen to a couple of my pads once.

the key is to make sure you dry them thoroughly. I leave them out for a few days in front of the HVAC grill in my condo, then I place them on the window sill (facing the sun) for another couple days.

Thanks. I'll be leaving SoCal for Chitown for a week so the pads will have time to dry while I find time to freeze.

If you store them in ziplocs, just use a hole punch to put a couple of holes in the bag so that moisture can escape.

That's a great idea! I threw out the old Ziplocs. I hope the mold does not come back on these pads until my new ones arrive.
