ahhh my uncles car is mildews white stuff and green stuff growing...its all over the dash...steering wheel leather seats...only front, some on carpet....some on the "ceiling of the car"

WHAT SHOULD HE DO....i did a check....some people say use bleach...leave it on for 30 mins....but that will wreck the carpet and colouring i think...some people say use vinegar...spray bottle and spray it on affected areas and just let it air dry...

WHAT ELSE CAN HE DO!?!?!??!!

would that stuff do it???? kill the mold...people stilll tell me to just spray vinegar on the carpet and just let it soak and dry...but im afraid to screw up the colour!!! HELP!!! he is not willing to use a lot of money to fix it...i know he is a cheapo.

Do a search for mold, a ton of stuff come up. As far as the vinegar, it shouldn't hurt the color. I mean thats what I use when I clean my mf's and they are still yellow.

I used to have a car that sat outside under a cover. Unfortunately, it had a leak as the result of an old accident, and would get damp inside...cover would act like a greenhouse...I would drive the car very infrequently, but when I would need to, I sometimes would pull the cover and find that it had turned into the Moldmobile! :scared Green mold all over everything, seats, dash, everything. I used to wipe everything down with a sponge and Lysol cleaner mixed up in a bucket. I finally had to junk it because it wasn't serving it's purpose as a backup vehicle.

You might need to clean the headliner as it often 'traps' odours

Remove the seats and thoroughly clean the carpet with a carpet cleaner and a disinfectant. Then let it air dry, ensuring that it is completely dry.

The carpet backing will absorb the most, spray the affected areas with a disinfectant (both the carpet backing and the carpet) clean the carpet using steam extractors upholstery attachments, and then re-install the seats, to eliminate the bacteria that creates mildew:

Methodology

·Use a medium soft brush and a 4:1 solution distilled water / Ammonia and then rinse with cool clean water

·For tough stains use a mixture of one (1 tspn) teaspoon Ammonia / quarter (0.25) cup Hydrogen Peroxide / three (0.75) cup distilled water and then rinse with cool clean water

·Once fabric is dry apply a fabric protection (303TM High Tech Fabric Guard)

·Change the cabin air filter (s)

·Finally use an air sanitizer/freshener (Lysol Neutra Air®) that quickly removes odours from the air.

To eliminate the musty smell use an odour-neutralizing mineral made from porous volcanic rock (Elite®). This type of product absorbs odours, eliminates stale musty air, and will reduce any noxious oil or gasoline fumes. It is non-toxic and when it stops working can be re-charged by warming in a microwave or in the sun, when it stops working can be re-charged by warming in a microwave or in the sun. Or lightly spray with an air neutralising disinfectant (Lysol Neutra Air®) that is non-toxic, non-allergenic, fast acting without a cover up scent or an offensive perfume smell
