hey all, if you caught the miata I did a couple of weeks ago, I plan to pretty much the same treatment for this car. It's actually a vehicle I purchased for myself last week. I've always wanted one of these and am very proud to have a nice example, but not so proud of the finish, so it will be getting the works. I didnt snap too many pictures before getting to work on it but it is still a work in progress. Here it is the night I got it:

Not in bad shape by any means but I think this car should get your attention, and it isn't clean enough as it is to do that. Personally I like to hit the interior before anything else so thats what I did. Used simple green as my apc, diluted, to clean the majority of the inside, meguiars leather cleaner/conditioner on seats and door panels, lexol on all the leather(really softened it up, though I was expecting the lexol to be thicker. it was like whole milk and I made a mess a couple of times), invisible glass on the windows, and armorall on the dash.

Now on to the exterior. I start by doing a wash with meguiars gold class, p21s gel on the wheels, apc on tires and wheel wells. I cleared up the headlights by wetsanding 800 grit, then 2000 grit, then 3000 grit, then m105 and followed up with HD Speed.

and here you can see the swirls that need to be corrected:

it's actually worse than it looks. When drying it, the rag felt like it was going over fine sand paper. I'm glad I got the nanoskin scrubber because I am going to need it! I will update swirl pics after the decon. Thats where she sits now, expect updates tonight so stay tuned and comments welcome!

everyday since the detail has been rainy, so the car is dirty :( I just cleaned it up and hopefully I can take some pictures tomorrow before more rain. heres one I snapped though

I apologize for these awful pictures, they were the only ones I could snap tonight that werent completely black.

i meant detailing, however I do have a few things planned mod wise. Big brake kit from a LS400, wheels/tires, sway bars, then later down the road I'd love to go NA-T or twin turbo swap.

Very nice and excellent job on the headlights! I love restorations on older cars.

Always loved those SC's too. What part of the Cape?

thank you! I too love breathing new life into cars 10+ years old that have been neglected. I'm in centerville (barnstable)

We got some sun today, but my camera phone literally white washes 90% of sun pics. It doesnt even show the details of the headlights which are crystal clear now :( but here are some finished pics, dont mind the dirtiness of the car
