Great work! Thoughts on Diamondite & Detailing Dynamics products?

Diamondite I bought a while ago and just never got around to using. My glass was in pretty bad shaped as it was etched pretty damn bad. Did diamondite work???.....Yeah but it is a pretty pricey. I used up just about all of the foam cleaner. On the areas of glass where I went over it twice, it looked much better. My honest opinion is that compounds and polishes could do just as good as a job if not better.

Diamondite process:

Step 1

Spray a lil foam (Foaming shaving cream thickness old school cream or hair moose for anyone that remembers the 80's!) on the glass n scrub with provided scotchbrite pad. What I liked is that the foam actually stuck or clung to the glass instead of dripping off like a liquid would.

Issue I had (Keep in mind it was my first time using it) It is messy and likes to "stain" (Comes off easily though) think of it as almost the old white sneaker polish. It drips in white streaks after scribbing so I constantly played "pong" with the friggin drips and runs!

Future note to self: TAPE IS YOU FRIEND!!!

Step 2

Glass cleaner - just like using regular glass cleaner

Step 3

This is the "rain X" type step. This supposedly seals your windows. Well again, I should have masked the entire car off because they want you to basically spray paint the glass. I couldn't trust that so I sprayed a fair amount on and followed up immediately with a shop paper towel to spread out the solution. It comes out tacky almost like a watered down sap. I thought it was a lil intense. You let it cure for a 5-10 and then buff off which i found to be a pain. I could only imagine how much worse it would be if I really coated the glass per instructions.

I buffed off as much as possible and then had to follow up with cleaner again to make it clear. I haven't driven in the rain yet so I can't really provide any details regarding sheeting action.

In regards to Detailing Dynamics products:

I like their clay, it felt a little more plasticy then clay magic which to me feels more like play dough almost. It did a good job and was effective.

I RAVE about their car wash. By far, it is the best car wash I have ever tried. In terms of lubricity and finish, I love it. I haven't tried everything, but I like it better than Zaino and anything OTC. The only thing I don't like is the cost. It's a lil steep for me for since I tend to use more soap then needed. It does work great in the foam gun though! A lil goes along way there!

Wheel Shampoo - PH balanced so it is the only thing I will use on my annodized lips. I try to give the wheels a good cleaning each wash and only pull out the wheel shampoo for extra dirty occasions. I do however use it on other family members cars that I wash on a somewhat regular basis. Spray, let sit for a minute and I use a drinking glass cleaning sponge that I bought at the drug stores (National wholesale liquidators, harmon drugs...etc ). For .99 it works like a champ for getting the barrels and calipers!

Polishes: I like their step 1-2 although they do get a lil dusty. Step 1 as most heavy polishes is a little thicker and tougher to work with then the creamier/less abrasive step 2.

I learned alot more since using their polishes so to be honest, I could comment on how well they finish down, etc. I can say that my car looked amazing afterwards though!

Sealant: After trying a few different synthetics, I like theirs but I am a bigger fan of Zaino. DD sealant is easy to use too, but I'm impressed with Zaino durability. DD sealant does provide a nice clean shine that is highly reflective, but I think lacks a little warmth.

QD - pretty good stuff! I liked it, very easy to use! Leaves a great slick finish.

Trying to think of what else I tried. I bought the cyclo through them so I just got the kit with many of the polishes already included (Pre Autopian Days). They did provide great customer service and since the main shop is local to me, I swing by and pick their brains all the time or just to shoot the $hit! Very nice and helpful guys!

As far as my plate being blocked out and then not....well that is my goof. I didn't catch it in some of the photos until after I posted and by then I was too tired from uploading 97 pics to photobucket, etc i just said fug it. I figure if I drive on public roads, anyone can get my plate or follow me home anyway. If I had a crazy stereo or TT's etc, I would be a lil more cautious. I appreciate the heads up though.

I am waiting on a new front bumper so once that is installed (Providing the fit is perfect otheriwse I am staying stock) I would like to get a guy on the G boards to shoot the car in a few spots I am keeping on lock down until after I get the pics! All I can say is that the location(s) is going to be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet!

Thanks for all feedback! I just hate how this website is a catch 22. On one hand it makes you want to get better and on the other......nothing is ever good enough. If I got the results I can achieve now about 2-3 years ago, I would have elated....but now I am just like hmmmmm it's just not good enough! LOL I am sure everyone is in the same boat... or should I say bucket!

Oooooops haven't seen thins thread in a bit. SLight glitch on my home PC and been busy at work.

The camera is a lil Nikon Coolpix 5200. I got this after been pro FILM for a long time. I have a Canon Rebel 35mm SLR which takes awesome pics, but it is just too bulky at times to carry around and worry about. This lil Nikon takes pretty decent pics and is very portable.

I need to take pics of the engine bay. I don't have any current ones since I added the CF cover and samco hoses/pi-thon locks. I haven't cleaned it since I showed the car in Sept of 05 (:nono )

I actually bought the grill off a buddy who did a body kit. It's a DATA Systems Grill and fits perfect. Most G coupe guys go with the Gialla which is similar, but thinner. Even the authentic Gialla has fitment issues (Large gap where it meets the bumper) which kinda bothered me. You can get the DATA Grill from Bulletproof Automotive or Intense Autosport. Usually there is a long wait because supposedly DATA only makes parts after an order is placed (No idea why).

Thanks for all the compliments! It's been a fun ride that always puts a smile on my face to drive! Unfortunately, I will probably be selling her in the late spring/early summer so I can buy a place.

Sweet car! lol If you're not good at photography then I don't know who is, I especially like the all mirrored building.

You plan on doin any performance mods? I've driven in the Gs so I know they are already extremely quick but I'm sure you could tweak that even more.

Thats a beautiful car and awesome detail. Whats with the hoodscoop? Functional? A buddy of mine has a turbocharged G35 in black... awesome cars. Here is a pic of his at our car show this past summer...

Not trying to steal your thread. But i just love these cars. Again, great detail. That thing looks like its dripping wet.

Nice work on the Zaino!!:bigups Black always looks great with Zaino! That's what I have as well on my Porsche 997 C2S! Very easy to maintain. Z8 on top looks much better now.

When you get to the engine bay, try the SONUS Motor Kote.

Nice mods on the car. I'm getting ready for just a few since Porsche is a great track/street car on it's own. The 997's had made great improvements! Now, you can finally get the GT3RS in the states! They stopped them years ago coming to the USA. That's a wild car!

Since Bilstein makes the PASM shocks for Porsche, they developed a newer type of PSS9's for PASM (coilover electronic). Then there's CROSS coilovers as well, which are great. Then H&R also makes springs for it as well. I may be going to the Bilstiens newer PSS9's.

No need to do anything with my brakes, I have the PCCB's (Porsche Comp Ceramic Brakes) which stop like an anchor and pedal feel is constant no matter how hard you heat them. They like to run hot.

With the Aero front, I need screens as well. I'm starting to charge towns for leaf removal. I'm always pulling leaves out along with other crap. These will be powder coated as well.

As for engine, well not much more can be done unless you want a supercharger from RUF. You can add a cold air kit, chip the ECU, exhaust with sport cats and that's about it. The RUF kit adds thicker head gaskets, then new intake, injectors, throddle body, MAP sensor and a few other items for upwards of mid to high 400 range. Or go with a 9FF twin turbo and now it's way up in HP. I like my engine the way it is. Love the sounds! I also have PSE (Porsche Sport Exhaust) and can switch it on/off from cockpit. Same for the suspension, Sport or Normal.

What's great for other Porsche owners in CT, we have Farnbacher-Loles in Danbury which is one of the top winning Porsche Racing teams that also do mods to street Porsches. They even make their own Cayman called Cayman GTR which takes an engine out of a C2S, chips it, new exhaust, suspension, brakes, roll cage, seats, on and on. It's one sick little car!

Do you really want to sell it to by a condo/house?:aww: I'd find a way to keep this one. You put a lot of money and time which cannot be made up on a sale. No one wants to sell something that you worked so hard for and enjoy! I hope you get to keep it that's for sure!:xyxthumbs

Great pics!!!:bigups

Regards,

Deanski

Yeah I know I'm not the best photographer, but here are a few before n after's.

You lie :-) That macro shot of the grass with the car out of focus is pure art.

Looks like you have a pretty good eye with a camera.. you consistently pick good, and interesting compositions for your pics.

Keep it up, I think you're a heck of a lot better with a camera than you realize!

Oh, and the detail job.. very nice indeed :-p

Beautiful job, on a great looking car! I don't know why, but that car has been a big sales flop over here - I'm not sure why; the sedan is pretty popular, though. From what I've read, it (coupe) seems much more popular in the U.S (I've only spent about a week back home over the last 5 years). One reason may be that it's called a Nissan Skyline G35 in Japan, even though it's a completely different auto than the Skyline GT-R and GTS line, so a lot of purists are put off by that. Damn shame . . .

did you have any success getting those deep water spots off, i couldn't tell

Off the glass, they came off....I'd say about 90-95%. I still feel it isn't perfect. Now you can't really see it on the clean dry glass, but if you wipe it with glass cleaner....you see the infamous mini spots instead of clear clean glass like you would see on the interior of a house....etc.

On the paint, everything I wanted to come out came out, except I should have wetsanded the scoop where it dips down better. Unfortunately I can't apply the pressure I wanted to because it's a fiberglass scoop molded to the stock metal hood. Up close I can see sanding lines which would have come out if I was able to get the cyclo in there, but it's a tough area. I will try some scratch X by hand in the spring.
